That is good since last year?s ski was a top seller for us. When I tested the Apache Recon, I found it to have that feel that most K2s have: smooth and predictable. In last year?s review, Jim categorized the Apache Recon for EZ Experts, and I have to agree with that. A strong intermediate could ski the Apache Recon if he sized down. I found it very user friendly. I didn?t have to get the edge angle as much as some of the other skis in similar widths in order to make the skis initiate. The moderate shape allowed for good crud busting. The Apache Recon makes a great soft snow ski, but it also holds an edge quite nicely on the hard pack due to the M1 Binding Integration System. I found the 174 to be the right length for me. Heavier skiers should choose the 181. K2 Fully integrated binding system: The binding system for most of this year?s K2s is no longer bolted to the top surface of the ski. K2 has fully integrated their new binding system into the of the ski core. This reduces weight, allows a better flex, and places the binding to rest and apply pressure directly over the ski edge. The Marker binding selected for each model is appropriate for the expected end user. The highest performance skis such as this model, include the Marker Piston binding for better dampening.
