Burton AK Rotor Insulated Womens
Burton AK Rotor Insulated Womens
8/26/2009

Chest: Feels true to size
Body: Feels true to length
Inseam: Feels true to length
Toasty, simple, nice design
Terrain Use: Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain, All Mountain
Good For: Blue Bird Powder Day, Cloudy and Cold, Cold and Blustery Day, Storming and White Out
Pros: Breathable, Warm, Waterproof
Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features
Other Thoughts: This is a great looking jacket that is super warm. I typically wear a shell with some layers on it even here on the coldest days in northern Vermont. I decided to pick up the Rotor jacket to cut down on some of the bulky layers. The design on the jacket gives it a little extra style to offset the solid color choices. My big complaint is that there are not enough pockets to stow your stuff -- definitely match this up with some cargo-type pants if you have to carry a few things with you.

Burton Hero
Burton Hero

Graphics: simple and clean
Believe the hype.
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Groomers
Pros: Durable, lightweight, poppy, Great value
Other Thoughts: Believe the hype, because it's all true. I bought the Hero when I was looking for a fun board to kick around anywhere on the mountain. It does not disappoint. I took the Hero out on a springy Vermont day and it was excellent in the soft snow. It's surprisely easy to maneuver in the springy mush with fairly quick transfer from edge to edge (more than I expected from a soft board). Super easy to press and goof around with but still fun at moderate speeds. It would not be my first choice for high speed riding but was nice at moderate speeds in spring conditions.
Customer Service: Shipped same day

Helly Hansen Verglas Womens Softshell
Helly Hansen Verglas Womens Softshell

Chest: Feels true to size
Body: Feels true to length
Inseam: Feels true to length
Warm weather soft shell
Terrain Use: Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain, All Mountain
Good For: Spring Day, Blue Bird Powder Day
Pros: Breathable, Lightweight
Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features
Other Thoughts: The Verglas is a perfect warm weather softshell for enjoying spring-like conditions. There's no wind getting through this softshell, which makes it a nice jacket with a layer or two underneath on colder days. The dahlia red is nice and bright and is a little more pink than red. My one gripe is that there are not enough pockets. If you are out riding with an ipod and are looking for a breast pocket you better have it in your midlayers. Otherwise, I love this jacket!
