No snow here yet and im already down for half the season with a broken hand.

Gotta rock this awesome cast for 5-12 weeks after breaking my scaphoid in half.  Instead of surgery they broke another bone so they could fix the displaced bone.  Looks like Ill get very acquainted with Mr. Righty over the next weeks

Damn Kona that sucks.  How did it happen?

I rode in a cast last year so if you take it easy you should be fine.  It was like 4 weeks into it healing before I did it though.
I'm just here for the points

I had a gnarly longboarding wipeout a few weeks ago and thought it was just a sprain, but while throwing football the bone started poking out.  Im thinking about giving it 5 good weeks and then hitting the slopes.

The scaphoid was snapped in half and they broke the trapezium to get it back into position.

Damn that really sucks Kona. At least the season hasn't started yet so hopefully you can heal up some before the snow starts falling.

Oh man that sucks.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.  At least it's still early in the season so you'll still be able to snowboard.

Damn that sucks. Yeah I broke all my fingers one day, and put em back into place and kept shreding. Once your boarding you dont even think about things like that.

That sucks kona..... A friend of mine from Colorado just called me to let me know she has multiple tears of meniscus in her knee and a major ACL tear and she will be out for the season. Keep your head up!!!
No, she gets a special cologne... It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good....They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

Yeah I broke mine like 2 yrs ago?  In February...which meant no more snowboarding for me that season.  I was sad...very sad.

My bf jokes about it and says you weren't crying about the pain!  you were crying because you couldn't snowboard anymore that season!  LOL

The only thing im worried about withriding with the cast is the fact that here in the EC we don't fall on downy-soft fluffy powder, we have ice with a little more ice under that.

My wrist looked like that picture when i broke mine 4 years ago.  32 breaks in one hand/wrist.

I also have realized that i have only broken bones in the month of october

i broke my wrist on my first day out last year and i chose not to risk riding with my cast. granted, i was uninsured and didn't want to risk further financial damage, but the doctor knew i was thinking about it and warned against it saying it might be the difference between 4-6 weeks in a cast with 3 months for full recovery and surgery followed by god knows what.
i don't know about you, but it's kind of like when you bite your lip once. you can't seem to stop biting it, repeatedly,  in the same place afterwards? i seem to gravitate towards falling on my injuries.

that being said, it was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hard to force myself to stay off the snow. i missed a trip to Utah and the 49+ other days i had planned for the rest of the season. who could blame you if you said f**k it, and rode anyway?
That's impossible, there's no such thing as trolls. • Then how do you explain all the dead unicorns?

Dude, scaphoid fractures are the worst.  They take so long to heal because of the poor blood supply to that area.

But longboarding?  Are you sure it wasn't a furious masturbation accident?

Definitely rocking the RED wrist guards every day this season.  Going body armor status too.  Don't want to deal with the pain, the hospital bills, or the time away from snow.

That sucks, Kona. Wrist guards (and all the rest of the protective gear) is a must if you're downhill skateboarding.

That man-made Boreal snow is almost as hard as pavement. I'm gonna hold off a few more weeks for some real snow. After breaking my foot last February, I've got a lot of catching up to do.

I broke my scaphoid a  long time ago and was in a cast for months...but I was surfing within about a week.

Even after the cast was removed, I kept surfing but I couldn't bend my wrist.  I had to to push myself up on the rail with all the pressure just on the joint between my metacarpals and proximal finger bones

...you can adapt, if you really want it
