sabbath a lot of the time. deep throbbing stuff, like NIB, lord of this world, into the void, etc. other than that, i dont really know. it depends on the weather and the type of riding and my mood that day.

I'm no mathematician, but I'm Asian, which is halfway there. And you are correct, sir! "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen comes to mind. Not sure if it's my favorite, but it's up there. Need to think about a top 10 and check out some of the songs on this list. |

I don't listen to much music while riding. I like to spend my time on the mountain getting away from all this modern gadgetry and whatnot. Hell,i don't even like riding with other people 99% of the time.

I guess I must be one of the only people that doesn't ride with music. To me it distracts me more than helping me get pumped up. I also found that when you ride with music its not very safe because it disables your ability to hear whats going on around you which I find is important. I do listen to music before I go riding which consists of:
Tech N9ne, Ice Cube, Black Pegasus, The Game, Benny Benassi, Dead Mau5, DJ Tiesto, and I could keep going but Im not going to. |

year 1 it was all system of the down. Had a great moment of synchronicity with aerials on hakuba.
It was really serious conditions, the wind was blowing up a fury and the snow was DUMPING. It was my first season, i was on my own and about 7 or 8 days into my snowboarding life. Great moment. I remember as if it were yesterday, listening to the cello at the start and just looking down into the horizontal snow and building myself up ready to nail it. By the time the chorus properly broke i was riding as fast as id ever ridden - there was this weird gray wall in my peripheral vision which to this day ive never seen again. For some reason everything just synched. Took my foot off the brake and let go. I mean its not the most resonant song in the universe or anything, and its not the most AMAZING thing to happen on a snowboard, but it just fit that moment so amazingly that it really was like having your life soundtracked :p Year two was all about this album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aW7NFSGklM Just heavy heavy bass man. This year i reckons its back to my roots. Two albums i forgot i had for around 7 years have been getting serious airplay over the last few months: This one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si9J10i5ACY&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaUuCXuBtTU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF0MKfWbFGo My absolute favourite track on the album, but this recording is kinda crappy. Stripped down heavy ass acid. :( (FUSE - Dimensional Intrusion). Also, doubt you can get it (have it on vinyl, limited press /brag) but this track is SICK. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bf1j2pNUgQ (terrible version on youtube though - wheres the bass mang!) Also because its a detroit CLASSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSaRe0pSTVs (Robert Hood - Detroit: one circle) Incidentally, there used to be this awesome Richie hawtin at windsor toronto live mix. If you can find that its just acid greatness. and this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAlvVY6vStU (love this track, so peaceful). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUWl0J3KadU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwMJ63GVDjM (this song blew my brain off once). All from this album: (Artificial Intelligence Volume II - Warp) (If you dont have it, seriously get a hold of it. You wont regret it for a second). This year is all about the return of acid in my head. I returned to the UK after 4 years in japan and rediscovered all the music i had in storage. And i tell you, it was an awesome rediscovery. Proper space cadet music! I shipped my decks and about forty select vinyl to korea solely on the basis of how much i fell back in love with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPEcjQXIHX0 (autechre - basscadet) Oh hell, im playing on youtube now. Back to the oldskool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBxGhlugfdU&feature=related (LFO and FUSE - loop) Actually ill go on forever so ill skip to the end. This track is awesome. One of the first things i picked up when i was back in the UK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuQzjx1c7iQ&feature=related (DHS - House of God. Really old acid house track). But i swear to god, even though i dismissed it as crap the first time i heard it, this is probably the best track ive heard in a decade. That i got it with the 12" house of god is freaking awesome. Stick some headphones on kick back and listen to acid when it was at its tweaking bad ass best. This track comes on while im on the slopes and shits going to happen :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfvSvYm6Qeg (DHS - House of God bad acid) Ah hells, the techno gods would never forgive me if i did all this and didnt have one mills track. So screw it, heres live at the liquid rooms. A bit harder than everything else, ive posted but bleh. Its mills innit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUJ8-edAeYg (part 1, find the rest yourself, i dont want to cost him moneys :)) |
