As a snowboarder currently living in This all started when the newly formed city of Wildwood decided that it should start charging ridiculous taxes to the local ski resort that has been around years longer that the new city ordinance. The city is making it difficult for the owner of Hidden Valley is becoming the least profitable ski resort owned by Peak Resorts simply because of the money being spent to appease the local city ordinance that is constantly looking for new ways to tax

That's a shame that the resort might close. I know about the struggles with skiing/snowboarding in those states like Missouri, Oklahoma, etc. My sister used to be from NY and then she moved out to Oklahoma. And she was a snowboarder too. Now she's like, oh lovely. No snow!
But, I hope the problems get resolved; and soon!

Try living in Australia! Our season only lasts about 3 months and half the time the snow is rubbish.

Well that problem isn't really something that can be fixed unfortunately... This, however, has a chance.
Sorry to hear about it though. I'm pretty sure it's going to suck pretty bad if it closes. But if it does, I'm pretty sure people will still poach it.
No lifts though...

Ha! I'd poach it...Until they bulldozed it into a boring suburban neighborhood. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

From what your saying it sounds like the city is trying to close it down; they probably want the land for something else. If it's a newly formed city than that resort is going to be their biggest source of tax revenue and there would be no reason to to increase the price to such predatory levels. Too bad.

Do they actually get enough natural snow to poach it?
Theres a small place just north of Kansas City that is probably the same thing, but its pretty much all man made.
Either way, even though this is yet another reason that KC > StL. ;) that still sucks man, good luck with that.
