Hey everyone!  After reading all the posts about boarders not being able to buy Burton products, I figured I would explain how to get them.  I am writing from Bongo International.  We are an international aggregator.  Basically, we will set you up with a US address so that you can buy ANY products (including Burton) from Sierra.

You give them your US address when you check out (instead of your international address).  Once Bongo receives your goods, we can automatically forward them to you OR we can hold them and consolidate them with any other purchases you want to make in the US.

The concept is simple.  Take a look at the site at http://www.BongoUS.com and feel free to post your comments and experiences on this forum.  I know we already have some customers from Australia that have tried it and loved it.  Please let me know if you any of you have any questions about the process.  Add me to your buddy list and send me a message.  Good luck and happy boarding!

um..a little strange that people have been asking to ship to non-billing address for a while & all of a sudden bongo comes along & within a day the website's being revamped...anyways this isn't a new idea & i've seen other forwarding services mentioned on the chat here before (just alot of people couldn't use them because of the billing/shipping address issue).

So, now that you can ship to non-billing address...maybe it's fair for people to check out other forwarding services that have floated around the chat, which from the sounds of it might be cheaper than bongo. Same concept, US address, consolidate your items, forward to you, choose your carrier (sounds like bongo is DHL only)...

I haven't used yet, but maybe people can post their experiences with bonogo or any of these services &/or the breakdwon of the costs (plus extra duties & taxes in their country). that would be helpful. So please post your experiences!! And make sure you find out about every little charge/costs to expect. (search around..you'll find a few reviews of these forwarding services)

I have a question about using Bongo's address to make order.

SierraSnowboard said only ship to billing address for international orders before.

"Unfortunately, we can only ship to billing for international orders for security reasons. "
Bongo's address is not my billing address for sure.

Is this policy already cancelled?!

Can we make our order ship to my US friends address?!

If only Bongo have SPECIAL Rights to do that, it is not fair to all other business competitor, is that legal ?!

Hey Edmund,

In order to be able to ship to Bongo, you would need to set up an account with them. Their address has already been verified with our company, which is why we would be able to ship your order there.

Our international policy is still in effect, we can not ship to your friend's address in the US for security reasons.

Chilli Palmer, I can not guarantee that you will get approved by Bongo, but you can try to sign up with us and we will review your details.  If we are able to approve you, then you would be able to buy from Sierra and ship domestically to our warehouse.  We would then be able to forward the goods to you in Argentina.

All you have to do is go to http://www.BongoUS.com and sign up for a US address.  There is an activation process (a form you need to fill out with copies of your ID).

Here is an earlier post I put up...

"I am going to list these as steps so that it is very easy to follow.

1)  Go to http://www.BongoUS.com and read through the FAQ's.  Familiarize yourself with the service and feel free to use the Live Chat function to ask questions.
2)  Sign up with Bongo International using your credit card
3)  There will be a form to fill out to allow Bongo to be your mail forwarding agent.  They will email you the form already filled out.  All you need to do is print it, sign it, and upload it through the link they provide to you.
4)  You now have your own US address.  Log into your account and click on "My Account."  You will see an address that looks like this...
955 Connecticut Ave
Suite 4104B-B2-B1111
Bridgeport, CT  06607
5)  Now that you have your address, you can go back to Sierrasnowboard.com and purchase any items you wish to ship to your address.  Remember that you want to put your new US address as your "shipping address" within the site.
6)  Sierra Snowboard will fulfill your order and ship the goods domestically.
7)  Bongo will receive your items, inspect them, and update them into your inventory (as a subscription member).  If you are a Pay Per Use member, they will automatically forward the items to you.  You can see the Bongo Rates here

It's that simple.  Once you have your US address with Bongo, you will never have to go through the process again.  You will be able to buy goods from Sierra as well as any other online retail stores in the US!  The more locations you buy from, the more money you will save.

Please send me a message if you have any questions about the process.

All boundaries have been removed!  Shop away!"

Hope this helps.  Feel free to us the "Live Chat" on our site if you have any specific questions.

That is a great question.  Here are some averages based on some of the information we have gathered from Sierra.  Please note that these are not exact as each brand can vary and each box can be slightly different...

Carriers charge the greater of the actual weight or the dimensional weight.  Many of the Sierra products are oversized boxes and are therefore charged at the dimensional weight.  Here are some common examples.  You can determine this amount by taking the dimensions of the manufactuer's packaging and applying this formula..

LxWxH/166

Here are your examples.

Snowboard Bindings  7lbs  16x14x8 - Billable Weight =  11lbs

Snowboard Boots     8lbs   20x16x6 - Billable Weight =  12lbs

Snowboard               6lbs   64x14x2 - Billable Weight = 7 - 11lbs (depending on size)

Ski boots               12lbs  24x19x6 -  Billable Weight = 17lbs

Genya, based on these numbers, your order of bindings and boots would be a total billable weight of 23lbs.  Shipped to Russia, the price would be $291.84 as a subscription member.

In many cases, this is correct.  As a US consumer, you are able to take advantage of the weak US dollar.  Typically the board will be less if you buy it in the states and pay for the shipping.  This is especially the case when you make multiple purchases in the US and consolidate the orders together.  The more items, the lower the shipping cost per item.

Fellow Aussies and Non US Customers.

I am writing on behalf of WorldPurchases.com.

We offer parcel forwarding from the US to your international address; and consolidation of your items shipped directly to your door step.

We have low rates and no annual or membership fees. For international shipping, we would only charge you the cost that is charged to us by the US Post Office.

This means you will be able to purchase restricted items that you normally wouldn't be able to. Popular brands such as Burton, K2, Ride, Forum, Vans; and all the Ski and Snowboarding gear from SierraSnowboard.com just in time for the ski season.

Feel free to contact us: info@worldpurchases.com or visit our website at Worldpurchases.com.

We would be more than happy to assist you with any of your purchases.

Sierra is not allowed to ship Burton overseas.  However, you can set yourself up with a US address through Bongo International http://www.BongoUS.com

Once you do this, you can buy Burton products from Sierra and have them shipped domestically.  Bongo will then ship the items overseas for you.  Visit our website if you have any questions about the process or contact Sales@BongoUS.com

Hey, maybe some competition will improve the shipping prices. Why don't you summarize your rates & tell us how/why we might choose your service over bongo or some of the others out there??

maybe you &/or bongo could offer discounts for SS members?? Wink

thanks!

Have you actually gone to the Worldpurchases site? The service offered by Worldpurchases and BongoUS is some what different. Bongo use DHL as thier shipping option, hence a higher rate but the upside is that they can ship larger items such as snowboards and skis. Worldpurchases uses USPS, so cheaper postage compared to DHL but limited to a size restriction that rules out snowboards/skis.

Put through an order with Worldpurchases and the service/communication has been great so far!

Here is a list of some of the advantages of Bongo's service
1)  Consolidate orders for free
2)  Insure your goods
3)  No size or weight restrictions (Therefore, we can ship boards, skis, or any other items you wish to purchase in the US.)
4)  We only charge you for the shipping.  There are no fees for the purchase of your goods.
5)  Know what was shipped - You will get a full inventory view of your order. In other words, if you buy 5 items...you will be able to see all the items that have arrived to Bongo.  Most of our competitors don't tell you exactly what is inside.  If the order is short, then you will have to pay for shipping twice.
6)  Images -  Request images of your goods to make sure they are what you wanted before you pay for the international shipment.
7)  Transit and tracking - All shipments arrive in 3-5 days anywhere in the world!  You get fill tracking to your door.  USPS can take 5-15 days with limited tracking capabilities.
8)  Customer Service - Want to make changes on the fly?  We have multiple avenues to communicate with us.  Virtual mailbox, email, live chat, phone, etc.
9)  Technology - Our site is one of the most advanced in the industry providing our customers with the details listed above and constantly making better.

Hope this helps in explaining some of our value-adds!

Hello all,

I would be glad to respond to some of the questions regarding WorldPurchases.

First Point:

The founders of WorldPurchases reside in USA, but are originally from Sydney Australia. So for all you fellow Aussies and international customers, we understand that you don't like to get ripped off by Rebelsports, or some local store in Jindabyne, Perisher, Thredbo, Mt Buller or Hotham. That's why we're here to pass on the excellent prices from SierraSnowboard.

Rates:

We will only charge you;

- The cost of your chosen products +
- 5% rate of your products +
- Actual USPS shipping costs as charged by the US Postal Service (USPS).

Please refer to http://www.worldpurchases.com/rates.html for complete Rate details.

Consolidation:

The consolidation of your items, from multiple websites into a single parcel is free for up to 3 different online stores. This means you could purchase many items from SierraSnowboard, as well as buy some items from other electronic or clothing stores. We can then combine your items into the same parcel and send it internationally to your doorstep.

Shipping method:

We use USPS as it is a more affordable and cost effective shipping method for our customers, when compared to DHL, FedEx or UPS. The shipping methods that we offer through USPS are also trackable and insurable.

Hi,

I was hoping that someone could help shed some light on Bongo. Is it legitimate? The reason for this question is that I am a little hesitant to give a company that I know nothing about 2 forms of personal identification as well as my credit card details.

I don't mean any offence, as I think this is potentially an excellent service, but in this day and age you have to be a little careful with identity theft.

No offence bongo. I hope more than anything to do business with you.

Look forward to hearing about someones experience with using the service. e.g was it reliable? And also.... Why do I have to give 2 forms of ID? No one else requires this....

Kaboose,
In order for Bongo to legally become your mail forwarding agent, we are required to get two forms of ID.  There is a form called the 1583 form (pretty standard in our industry) that needs to be filled out by every customer and this form requires two forms of ID.

The form is from the United States Post Office.  As you probably know, it is a federal offense to open someone else's mail or packages.  This form is created to get your permission for Bongo to be your mail forwarding agent.  It allows us to open and inspect your goods prior to shipping them overseas.

With that said, I can understand your concern about us gathering this information.  I am sure you will find some customers on here that will provide you with comments on their experience with Bongo International.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

I can speak personaly regarding the services from www.forwardit.us

I have used them countless times for sending stuff from US to Australia.  At least +30.

Brian is excellent at what he does, and I guarantee you, you will not find better or cheaper!

He was on eBay and his username was: wbates9688

$5 to forward item to you, + postage cost, that's it!!! No other fees.

If you want him to purchase for you, then it's another $10 (No other % on cost crap).  I've don't countless Telegraphic Transfers (bank to bank) with him and I know he can be trusted.

Free consolidation of packages.

He'll take pics of your items (Helped me with rims I got for my car, before sending to me)

The nicest guy, I've experienced at the time when he was on eBay, just look at his feedback... end of story.

Why did I use T/?T?  Because cheaper than using C/C and you get a better exchange rate.   I work in banking though, so no Wire fees for me though, you might want to consider Tongue

As long as it's not longer than 140cm then should be fine with USPS, if longer then will have to use another method. (In Australia)

Just wanted to pass on that info to you all considering using a mail-forwarding service.

I only live about 4 hrs from the Slopes in Aus, VIC, might hit up there soon. Smile

Can i clarify this- when you say "we only charge you for the shipping"..you don't "only" charge actual shipping costs, right?

ie. if you charge $60 for shipping...it might actually only be like $25 on the shipping invoice, right? I think it's confusing & want to point this out because it sounds like you're charging actual shipping costs...

Bilyth,
Our shipping rates can be found at http://www.bongous.com/shipping_cost_calculator.php

These are the rates we charge to our customers.  This price is over 50% off the DHL published rates when you factor in their fuel surcharge.  (it is about 53-54% off).  Therefore, we don't charge any additional fees like some of our competition.

Some competitors of ours charge a fee to create the commercial invoice, consolidation fees, % of goods fees, etc.  We only charge our customers the shipping rates placed on our website.

Hope this helps!

BongoUs,

On your website you can subscribe for $15 a month and get free consolidation and 50% of shipping etc. But if you want to Pay Per Use you dont get consolidation and only 25% of shipping.

Does that mean if i wanted to buy some bindings and a board i would have to pay the fee for there weight separately rather than bundled together/consolidated??

Cheers

Items that are sent from the same vendor (such as Sierra) and arrive together will be shipped together.  Therefore, your bindings and board would be shipped on the same airbill.  However, if they arrived at our warehouse on separate days, then they would be sent separately.  Hope this helps!  Let us know if you have any other questions.

If i subscribed and purchased my goods through you to benefit consolidation etc, could i then cancel my subscription? Would i be allowed to re-subscribe in the future too? Paying $15 to use your full service once would be much better than Pay Per Use.

Cheers

Our subscription services hold a minimum of 3 months.  However, after the 3 months, you would be able to downgrade your account to our Pay Per Use Service (no monthly fee).  This would allow you to keep your US address without having to pay a monthly fee at all.  When you were ready to make your next purchase, you could upgrade your account to a subscription again for another 3 months.

Hi all!  I came across this forum and thought I would throw in my voice here.  I am writing from Forwardit.us, an international package forwarding company.  Through this business we have seen firsthand how popular Burton and other ski items are, and how hard they are to obtain overseas in many cases!  We are able to help boarders worldwide with their Burton (and other gear) purchases so you all can be hitting the slopes in no time Smile

We have two basic services: forward an item and purchase an item.  With our forward an item service all you do is pay our $5 fee, and you will receive a shipping address.  There are no setup, monthly, or annual fees-- just $5.  Give that address at checkout and, once it arrives at our address, we will forward it to you.  We are able to consolidate orders as well to minimize shipping costs.  If you have issues with payment we are also able to place purchases for you through our "purchase an item" service.

All you pay is $5 per package sent plus the post office price of postage.  Due to size restrictions snowboards cannot be sent with the postal service to many countries-- in these instances we have partnered with UPS to offer discounted rates that are 50% off of published rates.  This means that we can ship a snowboard for around $90-- potentially less to many destinations.

Feel free to check out our site at http://www.forwardit.us and email us (or post here) with any questions.  As an added bonus, use the coupon code "SierraForums" at checkout to receive half off your service fee through August 15th.  Until then, happy boarding!

Nice! finally a member discount!

I assume though when they say "half of your service"..they mean half of the $5 fee & not half of everything (shipping costs)

Hello,

Unfortunately, the coupon code given by forwardit.us isn't running with the "purchase an item" service. Though, international order need this option because we can't use an international credit card with an US address...

Is there a problem with the coupon code ?

Hey Seboss,

You can't use a gift code from Forwardit.us with our site. The gift cards must come from us in order for them to be able to work. My guess would be you needed to use the code with forwardit.us and they would have to place the order for you with our site. If you PM me the gift card number and some more information I can try to help you figure it out.

Hello,

You do not understand what I want to say (it's probably due to my imperfect English... LOL)

Actually, forwardit.us gave in this post a coupon code to use with their website (mail forwarding), but this coupon code is not running (sierra snowboard is not really concerned).

I add that I send them an email and they are going to give me the discount on the shipping cost to France.

I tought it was the good topic to talk about it.

I think i understand.

Tu veux dire que la code fonctionne seulement avec "mail forwarding" mais pas "purchase an item"...mais ils vous donnent quand meme la reduction apres que tu as envoyer un email. Et c'est ca que tu veux partager. Non?

I think seboss is trying to say that the coupon code forwardit.us posted here only works for "'mail forwarding" but not the "purchase an item" option (on forwardit website..not SS) which is needed for some international buyers who cannot use their credit card. But after emailing forwardit, they were willing to give the discount retroactively on the shipping charges.

He/she thought it would be good to share this.

Yes you got it bilyth.

I think it's a good thing to post feedback about that kind of system to allow people to get Burton package mor cheaply !

PS : Is my English as desastrous as it seems ? Cry

Post away! That's what the forum is here for. Plus, I'm sure other international customers will have the same problem.

And no your English is very good, I just assumed you were talking about our site and not Forwardit.us.

nah, don't sweat it seboss..your english is fine.

so, how much did the shipping cost you? Was the discount $5 off the $10 "purchase an item".

Maybe you can post the shipping carrier you used, the cost for shipping, & any duties/taxes you had to pay. And anything else we should know about your experience with the forwarding company you used.

Hey Guys,

I just used Forwardit.us to get my items shipped to me as my billing address is in Australia but i need the items shipped to New Zealand. They are great!

Cost of shipping my board and bindings to NZ was $151.75US.

Very easy set up just email them and they stay in constant contact with you.

Cheers

I have used Bongo to get boards shipped to australia recently.
Bongo's customer service is very good, and the shipping was very quick!
Also, the shipping rate is quite comparable to other sites.
Overall, I would recommend Bongo.

Hi Bullaburra--

Unfortunately snowboards are too long for USPS Priority Mail to be a shipping option to Australia.  Snowboards set to Australia will have to be sent with a courier (UPS, FedEx, DHL) which will cost around $90.

Bullaburra, the BongoUS rates can be found at http://www.bongous.com/shipping_cost_calculator.php

The rates for most boards range from $73 - $97.  Additionally, you can save even more money by consolidating your board with any other purchases you make in the US.  Feel free to contact us with any questions.

NakO,
This is hard to determine without knowing the exact dimensions and weight of each item.  Here are some of the averages that have been provided by Sierra...

Here are your examples.

Snowboard Bindings  7lbs  16x14x8 - Billable Weight =  11lbs

Snowboard Boots     8lbs   20x16x6 - Billable Weight =  12lbs

Snowboard               6lbs   64x14x2 - Billable Weight = 7 - 11lbs (depending on size)

Ski boots               12lbs  24x19x6 -  Billable Weight = 17lbs

Based on this information, your total weight should be around 18-22lbs for a snowboard and bindings.  The cost to Chile is $210.27-$235.98 (for our subscription customers).  I also want to warn you that the carriers will only broker shipments at a value up to $500.  If your goods are worth more than $500, then you will need to broker the shipment yourself (ie: an additional cost).  The carrier will broker a shipment valued over $500, but it will cost you $50 or 1% of the value of the goods per airbill.

Feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions about the process.
