I'm up in NoVa as well but I'm about to head out west to the SF Bay. You ever boarded on Snowshoe mountain in WVA? I hear it's the best place to board that's closest to VA. It's not closer than Liberty, Whitetail, and ones in PA but I hear it has better snow.

Im in Charlottesville. Board at Wintergeen but looking to go to Snowshoe, Liberty and other points north.
Gotta go to Binghamton, NY for work and am seriously considering taking my gear and trying out Elk Mountain. |

i was at wintergreen this past friday. lots of newly made snow. it was nice. til i took a bad spill. helmet saved my brain bucket, but hip and lower back are still sore. doesnt look like there will be much more riding with all this warm weather coming in. |

i know. why is it so warm here? a storm goes through snowshoe its snow, it gets to wintergreen and its rain. i just hope this season can last as long as it can and that next season we can get some serious snow. and maybe next week it will get cold again

Snowshoe is great - best is the northwest territory early in the day before it gets all icey.

or under the powdermonkey lift, or widowmaker on a por day, or bear claw or flying eagle at silver creek....western territory is often windblown and gets icy earlier than the rest, a lil overrated.... and the new runs suck butt except on pow days, but the flat runout sux on pow days, so point it halfway down

massanutten's got some good stuff when we got the snow but not a whole lot compared to winter green or snowshoe and barley anyting compared to out west  |

Ha, last post if from Burke, me too. (Northern Virginia for you central folks)
I've hit Wisp this year, conditions have been good but the wind blows anything off that's fluffy. I wish we could do Snowshoe in a day. They've had an epic year (180+ so far). Roundtop, Whitetail, and Liberty are way too crowded on weekends to even try to make it work. Depending on the temps, night riding's OK there...should I even mention Bryce?

i hit up wisp and got a 3 floor condo with around 10 people 5 miles from the resort. when i went there it just snowed a crap load and it was real fluffy. (a rarity) i only go to those 3, round white and lib, only when i really need to (really blows there tho)

I live up in NOVA and usually hit up liberty or whitetail. If im feeling like a bit longer of a drive ill go to wisp. Ive been to all the mountains in VA and do not like any of them. Masanutten is probaly the best. Conditions at whitetail and liberty have gotten really icy after about 12 in the afternoon and was thinking about trying out 7 springs. any opionions on that mountain. i heard its great

I was at Whitetail last Thursday and it was such sweet sugar, but considering the temps, I think that was the last good day. There were already bare spots, it has to suck hardcore now. Wisp should hold up for another week or two. Going to snowshoe this weekend and even they are suffering but might (pray) get a few inches friday and should be cold enough to make snow tonight and tomorrow night. So sorry to see the season go...
