Vans was founded in 1966 by Paul Van Doren with the Van Doren Rubber Co. In 1979 the first Vans slip-on shoe was introduced. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that snowboard boots were introduced to their line-up and played a vital role in the company's jump back into the spotlight as a contenter in the youth sportswear market.
