Sierra Says: The Sierra V Spot has finally arrived, fresh from the Burton factory as a Special Mid Season Release, similar in every way to the Burton Social! "V-Spot is a tailblocker" 2/5/2010
Helpful Review?   (8) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Keeps up suprisingly well at higher speeds, NOODLE: great for park riding and progression, FUN!!! really easy to ride and enjoy
  • Cons:  Soft for landing large jumps, doesnt easily power through rough terrain and chop, you dont own one yet ;-)

Experience:   Height: 5' 3// Weight: 125lbs// Boots: Burton Sapphire, size 7.5// 2010 Sierra V-spot 138// the Sierra V-Spot is made by Burton and based off the Burton Social. Basically the women's version of the Sierra Stunt. At the Bruizzapalooza meet I decided last minute I wanted to check this board out... the only deck left was a 138 which is shorter than anything I had previously ridden. I figured this board would be a joke and too short to really enjoy. WRONG. It snowed way too much at steamboat to take it out, so I strapped in and did a little carpet boarding... Hello effortless tail blocks! I promptly asked Mike if I could keep this board ;-) thanks Mike for generously agreeing to give me this sick stick! I rode it all day at Keystone and kept up with the straight line boys surprisingly well, and I enjoyed the hell out of it!!! This board is comparably soft to the SMF (Capita Space Metal Fantasy) that I currently ride. Butter, pop, speed, nice edge to edge, centered, basically everything I like in a board. In the length I own this board in I wouldn't take it in anything deep, but on groomers and in the park this board is nothing but fun and awesome! It's def got a place in my quiver and I would highly recommend this to any lady looking for something fun, progressive, easy to ride, wanting to hit park and slay groomers on, from beginner to advanced rider. What a pleasant surprise :-)

"Forgiving freestyle board" 3/9/2010
Helpful Review?   (5) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  THE UNICORN!, Reverse camber and flex; easy to manipulate, Poppy and Buttery
  • Cons:  Not big boy park approved,

Experience:   I was able to demo this board right after demoing the Capita Space Metal Fantasy. It isn't quite as soft as the SMF, but it is a still a super flexi board. Being a eager to check out the entire mountain, I took the V down a pow tree run in the back country. It was able to ride it better than most park oriented boards in that situation, but it was not made for that kind of riding. There was also a lot of chop on some of the runs, and although it handled better than the SMF, I still felt everything. When I was using the board for what it was made for (park/groomer) it was more than gratifying. It was painless to nose/tail press, butter, ollie etc. More than a few times I was ridding down the hill and realized I was ridding switch. Rolling edge to edge was effortless, and it didn't hold me back too much when I picked up some speed on the groomers. This would be a solid second (or third) board for an intermediate rider looking into getting into the park. It does have a nice flex and easy edge to edge roll, so if there is a beginner out there thinking about getting this board, it wouldn't be a bad decision. I like this board because it is definitely a freestyle board - super easy to play on in the park, but still could handle the random double black I threw at it. With it's reverse camber and true twin shape and flex, this board is poppy and an all around fun board to ride. It also has a matted top sheet which makes it not as slick in those wet conditions. After demoing this board I decided I had to add it to my collection. Ladies who should own this board: Beginner, intermediate rider looking to progress in the park, advanced rider who is looking for a board to mess around on the hill with. Ladies who should look at something else: Intermediate riders who want to focus on speed and pow, advanced riders looking to hit the big boy park. Honestly though, everyone should own this board. It has a freaking unicorn on it! Phil, you are the man!

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens

  • Pros:  Soft & Flexible, Great for butters, Fun board
  • Cons:  Not great at higher speeds/thru chop,

Experience:   This is my first season snowboarding and I started on a regular camber board, the Ride Solace, but after all the hype of the V-Spot I was intrigued so a fabulous little lady (Stass) let me ride hers for the weekend and I fell in love! Its a softer board and great for playing around on, I gained 6inches on my presses without even trying and ollies became effortless! Its a terrific board to learn and progress on! It also floats through powder nicely. I rode it all over the mountain and it handled well but not great at the higher speeds. I now own the 142 V-Spot!

"Fun park progression" 1/26/2010
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  Soft, Easy to press, Great for progression
  • Cons:  May be soft for larger jumps,

Experience:   I had the opportunity to ride this board for about 3 hours at Steamboat, Colorado this afternoon. We did a few tree runs with some leftover powder for the first bit of it. The board handled fairly well in the powder and actually was pretty stable at higher speeds on the groomer sections as well. It's a bit on the soft side for some of the faster riding, but still fared well overall. We hit the park for two laps near the end of the day. I'm not much of a park rider, but I did do a few boxes and two fairly decent size jumps on it. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who is hitting large features, as it's a bit soft for the landings, but for the progression in the park, I would highly recommend this board. It's amazingly simple to press and will help immensely with the progression of flat-ground tricks. And who can pass up this unique graphic? Props to Phil Wiles on this one!

"Perfect!" 3/15/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Great Flex, Lightweight, Graphics that stand out

Experience:   Height: 5'4; Weight: 115 lbs, Own: 138cm. Great all-around board. This is my 2nd board and it's been really fun to ride. My other board is 142 and this is a fun board to just mess around with: buttering and trying out boxes/rails for the first time. It's very flexible and very lightweight. It's responsive and allows me to practice riding switch. Really a lot of fun all throughout the park. I would recommend this board for beginners who want a board that will last them (plus it's priced just right) or an intermediate rider who wants to ride the park.

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  Easy Turning , Control , Light Weight

Experience:   I started snowboarding for the first time this season. I've been using a friends old board and recently decided to make the purchase of my very own v-spot. WOW... I couldn't believe how much my skills improved just from riding this board. Linking turns become effortless and I become much more comfortable with speed! I was also able to get in more runs than normal because my energy was not zapped away!!! I highly recommend this board!

"Soft and fun!" 7/31/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Soft,
  • Cons:  Sometimes too soft,

Experience:   This board is really fun on rails and can be good on jumps. I am not used to a soft board so its a little weird on jumps. I love it on rails though. It's so fun! Super soft and you can really press out your nose and tail presses. I would recommend this for an all around rider. You can hit jumps on it but once you start hitting bigger jumps you might want to think about a stiffer board.

"Love this board...I want!" 4/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra V Spot Womens
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  soft, forgiving,

Experience:   Height: 5'2ish weight:115lb. I normally ride a board in the 142-145 range so when I had the opportunity to demo a V-spot I decided to try a 138 to see how a short board would feel. Omg this board is so much fun I instantly fell in love with it. It's able to handle speed pretty well and presses were so easy on this board I fell backwards one time from pressing too much. I took the medium sized jumps on this board at Sugarbowl and it handled them fine. I didn't take any boxes or rails since I was too tired from the previous day's riding nor did I really test it out on icy conditions so I have no clue how it will handle ice. This board will be great for beginners or intermediates wanting to hit the park.
