Sierra Says: Following the success of the Sierra Crew in previous seasons, we felt it was time to up the ante in 2010. The new Sierra Crew, designed by Phil Wiles, is similar to the Burton Custom - the best selling and most revered snowboard of all time. We chose the Custom as the model because we wanted to provide something that the experienced riders could love and the newer shredders could appreciate as they progress. Needless to say, this board rips everything the mountain has to offer. The 2010 Sierra Crew is what happens when the top manufacturer in snowboarding combines with the biggest and most passionate snow community. The 2010 Sierra Crew is a fully versatile, super exclusive sno... More »

"New Crew, Can Do!" 12/11/2009
Helpful Review?   (22) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Easy to Carve, Stable at High speeds, Playful yet powerful.
  • Cons:  I like boards a little more centerd. ,

Experience:   Hey all, Guth here to tell ya what i think of the 2010 Sierra Crew. This year we went where no Sierra Crew has gone before. The 2010 came from a background of tradition and experience. Based of the Burton custom (best selling board of all time) we added our in home graphics and a regular 4 hole pattern top keep your compatibility options open. As for performance...'Nuff Said. Talk about a board that really just rides everything well. Its mid flex, not too soft, not too stiff, makes it great for any riding level, and any condition. The elongated nose pushes through crud and pow like a hot knife in butter. Carbon I beam gives it power in the core without making it stiff, so don’t be afraid to push your riding to the next level. The crew will keep up anything you can throw at it. So all in all. If you could only have one board for any day of the year, the Crew is at the top of the list. Ice, pow, rail, its like a Wal-Mart. You can get anything out of it.. I gave it the coveted 5 Star rating i normally only give the 5 stars for product i have decided i liked enough to own, but my budget this season is too low for a new board.. but it deserves it.

"Upgrade from last seasons" 12/13/2009
Helpful Review?   (7) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  fast base,
  • Cons:  takes time to break in,

Experience:   I got the opportunity to ride this board one on one with the 2010 burton custom. The conditions were some dust on crust and some deeper pow lines. The first couple of runs on the Sierra Crew gave me the impression that it wasn't going to be that fun of a snowboard. It felt very stiff torsionally and wanted to chatter a little at high speeds. After 3 runs of buttering as much as i could and ollieing off everything i could, it started to loosen up quite a bit. If you get this board, make sure you ride it a bit before you make up your mind whether you like it or not. After about 10 runs on it, its flex started to feel more and more like the custom. Overall i took about 15 runs on the sierra crew and then the same on the burton custom. When I rode last years Sierra Crew, I found it to be a little sluggish, but this years was able to keep up when i tried to take it to the limits. When taking it through the tracked out pow, i was able to point it and go and it chopped through quite well. In deeper untracked snow it stayed afloat fairly easily even though i was riding the 156 mounted centered. I rode the same stance on the 56 custom and while the custom rode better in the untracked, the crew seemed to cut through the chop better. Due to the snowy conditions i was limited to which park features were open, but was able to hit a few boxes and smaller jumps. It was comfortable on both the boxes and jumps. Initially when looking at this board it seemed to be more directional than expected, but when riding switch it felt like a twin, which is due to its sidecut. Again due to the snow conditions i was unable to ride on groomers where i could really test the stability at higher speeds, but it stayed stable as fast as i could get it going. Overall i'd rate this board close to a 4 out of 5 because of the way it rides right out of the bag. I have a feeling that after a couple days on the snow it will rip.

"This board is a BEAST" 3/21/2010
Helpful Review?   (6) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Forgiving Flex, Edge Holding, Speed
  • Cons:  None, None, Breaking People's Necks

Experience:   This board performs so well I can't ask for anything more. The response when switching edges and its ability to hold an edge when your charging down the mountain is ridiculous. There's no need to be fearful of wobbling and falling on your bootay when your flying passed everyone on the mountain because this board can handle anything, no joke. I popped down into a pretty steep drop real sketchy and the board had just enough flex to compensate for it and the rest was history. With enough pop to get some ground 180s when dorking around, and with just enough flex to absorb the rough terrain, this board will be with me for a long long time. My first ride on it was on some slush and it still got me far on the flats. And the best part is people can't help but rubber neck and admire the graphics. Hands down worth every penny. Go get one! Srsly.

"Best Sierra Crew Yet!!" 12/11/2009
Helpful Review?   (6) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Fast, stable, good edgehold, snappy,

Experience:   The 2010 Crew is our best rendition to date. This time we decided to team up with our friends at Burton to design a Crew that is more performance-oriented than those of the past. ANY LEVEL of rider can enjoy this one, but we crafted it specifically for the guy who knows what he is doing. This was inspired by the versatility and popularity of the Burton Custom and shares a lot of similarities. Take this board everywhere and have a good time.

"Without question... the BEST board I have ever ridden" 2/9/2010
Helpful Review?   (5) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Fast, fast, fast.. did I mention fast, Stable at high speed or low speed, Holds an edge like nobody's business
  • Cons:  Scratches easily,

Experience:   I was using a Ride Havoc and bought this board because my Ride was pretty much dead and didn't have anymore pop to it. I never really thought a board would make that big of a difference in my riding but boy was I wrong... dead wrong. To start off, skills-wise I am probably somewhere between a progressing beginner to an intermediate rider. I can hit small jumps and low boxes... do fine on blue runs and can take blacks with a little difficulty. But everytime I rode, my buddies would fly past me down the mountain cause at high speed my board had a lot of chatter and was simply too unstable for me to feel comfortable. But the Crew changed all that. The board, especially with the factory wax, was crazy slippery and fast. It just kept picking up speed heading down runs. However, the amazing thing was that the board's stability only increased as my speed went up. I even freaked out a couple of times and tried to bail but the board kept me up. It's like vehicle dynamic control on a snowboard. I took the board through the park, over jumps, through groomed and ungroomed runs and it handled like a pro. We even had some whiteout conditions where I couldn't see the terrain very well but whether I hit a bump or a dip, the board took it all in stride and definitely made me a much better rider. I never could have done that with my Ride Havoc. Very forgiving but also holds an edge really well. You can definitely carve with this board all over the mountain. This board is absolutely worth the price... hell it's worth twice the price if you ask me. Whoever got in on the deal where it was $249 with free shipping AND a $100 gift card got an amazing board for basically $150... I missed that deal by a week but even at full price, this board is well worth it. It has totally opened up a whole new world for my riding and I feel a lot more confident in taking on whatever the mountain can throw at me with the Crew underneath my feet.

"Awesome Board!" 12/22/2009
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Fast, Poppy , Stable
  • Cons:  non,

Experience:   Finally got my first runs on my new Sierra Crew today. Conditions: Great on the surface groom, but raining an fog. With that said, I forced myself to take 10 runs or so just to get an idea of the board. I must say, I almost stayed all day. The ride is so awesome. I have been riding the V-rocker the past couple of days on the hill, and they are so different I can't believe they are both based off a Custom. Might as well be totally different boards. The Crew is slightly narrower, stiffer and has that wonderful feel of camber in turns. Where the tail propels you into the next carve. No real park today, just messing around on rollers and bumps, but it felt like it had more pop actually and its definitely a ton more stable when going fast. It had the light, poppy feeling of my Vapor actually, but is a ton more stable when going fast. I would say they are a similar flex even. The Crew probably a little bit softer. Though it definitely rips carves way better than my Vapor does. There was still some ''untouched pow'' as the resort website called it. Which was actually nearly two feet deep, what they left out is that it was water soaked and the consistency of grandmas mashed potatoes. However I was actually able to stay on top of it. Thank goodness because I didn't realize how thick it was before I peeled off a run at high speeds and basically had myself in between runs and had to finish the whole way down in ito get back to packed snow. What I think I found most interesting about this board is it felt like it had all the things I like about my Custom X, i.e., its ridiculously fast and poppy with a ton of edge grip. But its delivered in mellower package that you can just dork around on at the same time. I think it fits in the Sierra lineup very well. The Sierrascope is much softer and flexy and is a better dedicated park stick.

"Reasonable Choice for beginners" 5/3/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Beginner
  • Pros:  highly bouncy, stiffness,
  • Cons:  easy scratched, not for switch riding,

Experience:   It has so many virtues. In my opinion, its graphic is rather good and hardly to be sick of. It was relatively short for me, but I didn't feel any unstable feelings, rather give me great bounce when I was changing edge. It has unbelievable elasticity, help you can jump higher. If you are a beginner, it would be the best choice for you.

"Bang for your buck" 2/8/2010
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  stable at high speeds, busts through all the chop, super fast base

Experience:   The crew is smokin fast! I've been riding the 160w with my Burton Co2 bindings this year and have been loving it more and more everyday. I'm 6', 210 lbs, and have 11.5 Burton Ions. My stance is 24'', centered, and at 15/-15. Sierra set this board up with the 4x pattern so you aren't limited to only Burton bindings. After riding it a few times its settled into a very nice mid-flexing board. It cuts through the chop like a champ, floats through the pow, and powers down groomers like a rocket! It's got great pop and holds edge all over. A great board to take up to the mountain for any condition. Our one and only English Butler did a great job on the graphics! Cheers Phil! Like the title says, you won't find a better stick for the price!

"A sick all-around board (and amazing value)" 12/15/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2010 Sierra Crew
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Stability, Performance, Graphics

Experience:   I just had the chance to ride the new 2010 Sierra Crew (I rode the Limited edition 156 hybrid model) at Squaw Valley the other day with about a foot of fresh snow and loved it. The board performed as advertised (just like a Burton Custom) all over the mountain, from the groomers to the trees. This board has a ton of pop, is very stable at speed and when carving turns, and generally does it all well. I even had the chance to land a couple small rock drops and felt in control the whole time. Love the custom Sierra Snowboard graphics! Nice job Phil. And the price? Who can argue with that deal? If you're looking for the best value in snowboards right now, buy this board.
