Salomon X-Wing Fury System Skis

Jim Says: I ski on 50/50 skis most of the time and while there are many good ones, there ARE differences. Some of the skis is this group are stiff, powerful and grippy. Despite their wider waists I find many of those skis to be more suited to the frontside than the backside. Others are lighter and somewhat softer and I think they favor softer snow. The Fury is sort of the "tweener" in this group of skis. It has quite a bit of shape like some of the frontside oriented skis yet it is light and nimble like some of the backsiders. While not the best of the 50/50's on really hard snow, nor the best of the group in light powder, the Fury is very credible at both. This ski is quite a bit stiffer than last years version and is solid enough for most any skier. If I were using this as a daily driver, I'd choose the 177.

The Salomon X-Wing Fury returns this year with the same chassis as last year's model with a subtle change in the core. Salomon added more wood to the ski to give it a smoother ride. The change is highly noticable.

If you are looking for a lively and nimble ski that is still stable in rough conditions, the Fury is for you. It's wide enough for some fresh powder. It's steady enough in crud. It will hold an edge on the groomers when skiing at mach schnell. This is the quintiscential definition of the 50/50 ski.
