Nordica Olympia Victory Womens System Skis

Jim Says: The name is a reference to the image of "Winged Victory" emblazoned in the graphic. It could also well describe the feeling of a good skier after a ride through some challenging conditions. The Victory combines a deep sidecut, a fairly wide shape, and a solid construction. The result is a tool for a good skier to handle about anything the mountain has to offer at about any speed. When I tested the 162, I immediately knew that I was on a serious ski with a ton of upside potential. It was soft enough that it turned easily, but it had the power and dampness for both hardpack, crust and up to almost a foot of springlike goo. On the groomers, the Victory was quick enough for short turns, but it really preferred medium to long radius cruisers. In the rough stuff it was easy to just stand in the middle of the ski and let it ride around. Few skiers will need a more powerful or a wider ski than this one. Most good skiers are going to want the 162 with smaller women going for the 154.

Nordica binding system:
All the higher-end Nordica skis use the "X-Balance" integrated binding system. This consists of a two piece plate that is independently mounted to the front and rear of the ski. This system is very effective at spreading the skiers' weight along the body of the ski. The result is a big sweet spot and some forgiveness if the skier is too far out of position either forward or aft. The bindings used are Markers with the model and DIN range appropriate to the ski model.
