  • Pros:  lightweight, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold
  • Cons:  Sluggish

Experience:   This is pretty much the best all mountain board I've owned....Stable(Mid wide) poppy, nice edge hold.... Magnetraction rocks etc.. However, as the earlier reviewer said. The base on my board was BEYOND dry and most likely a defect... I sent the board back, and purchased an 09 the next year.(that should give you and idea has to how much I liked this stick..

"A great all round board" 4/29/2009

  • Name: 2008 Lib Technologies Travis Rice MTX
  • Pros:  Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Great value, Stiff, Well known brand
  • Cons:  Heavy, Top sheet scratches

Experience:   This is an awesome board, i used it for 2 seasons, mine had a fast base, not like some of them so it was really good. It had lots of pop, and it had very little chatter, it had insane edge hold and it span very easily. This board also floated really well in pow.I really liked this board and i would reccomend it for any one wanting a high quality good all mountain freestyle board. only con was that the top sheet scratched pretty easily

Experience:   My brother has this board, which I have ridden quite a bit. The Magne-traction cuts through on ice and makes it feel like it has been groomed. It's a 157, but the nose and tail are short, so the rail edge is equivalent to a 160, making it stable at speed. While I love my own board, it is fun to slap on this board when I can for a few runs.

"Good, not great" 3/12/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Lib Technologies Travis Rice MTX
  • Pros:  This board is very stable, and I'm sure it would be great off of jumps if I was at that stage in my riding. In terms of looks, this is my favorite 2008 Lib (although I haven't seen the Cygnus X1 in person yet, so that might win).
  • Cons:  The reason the board is so stable is also a big reason why I don't like it, and that reason is the waist width. It makes the board feel a bit sluggish. Also, the base on this board was incredibly dry and took a number of waxings to finally start to look moist.

Experience:   Maybe my expectations were a bit too high, given that everyone seems to rave about this board. I still think the TRS is hands down a far superior board.

"Lib Tech Travice Rice" 1/8/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Lib Technologies Travis Rice MTX
  • Pros:  This is a great board. I rode the 156 for several hours. This board is the fastest board I have ever been on. If you want to break the sound barrier on a snowboard this is your best bet. It is on stiffer side and has an insane edge hold.
  • Cons:  A little stiff for jibbing and park butters in my opinion but definitely capable all over the mountain.

"A great board from Lib Tech and T Rice himself" 1/8/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Lib Technologies Travis Rice MTX
  • Pros:  Solid all around board even for the 153 that I use. With all the construction put into the board it's pretty lightweight. Great edge hold, fast and durable base.
  • Cons:  Not many cons I can think of really. Slightly unstable at speeds, but nothing uncontrolable , though it could be a by product of me running the 153.

Experience:   MTX, or magnatraction, is not for a beginner by any stretch. It takes some time getting use to with how easy it easy to hold or catch your edges. But after a while it's probably a great feeling to have a board that with 7 contact points won't ever feel loose on turns.
