Jim's Review:

This is the newest entry in Dynastar's Legend series of skis. This new model has a little more sidecut than the older 8800 (due to a wider tip) This ski is also stiffer but due to a milled wood core, it is no heavier. I feel that the 50/50 skis are the "tweeners" between the wider powder skis and the more groomer oriented 90/10 and 70/30 skis. The Mythic has been my primary ski in this catgory since last spring. I find this ski to be an ideal blend of nimble, grippy, and powerful and it is perhaps the best crud blaster in this width range. This is a pretty stiff ski and although I prefer many of the other choices in this width range, in a 182 length, the Mythic 178 is plenty of ski for my 190# . The Mythic is not quite as good in Moguls or in blower powder as some softer skis, but the payback is tremendous stability when the snow is heavy or rough. GS turns are the Mythic's forte but it is nimble enough for quicker turns too. This is not a learning tool for an intermediate but offers big rewards for a skier that is agressive.

Dennis says: The Dynastar Legend Mythic Rider replaces the last year's Legend 8800. The Legend Mythic Rider has a wider tip than the Legend 8800 that draws it into the turn with ease. The best improvement for the Legend Mythic Rider is that it deflects less in the worst cruddy conditions due to the wider tip. I weigh around 170 pounds after that big resort breakfast burrito, and I feel the 172 is plenty of ski for me.

Tyler says: The first thing that you notice when you get on the Mythic Rider is the fact that even though you are on a ski that is 88mm underfoot it does not feel like it. This ski allows you to bust through crud with ease and then come back on to cordurior with the performance that many expect from a carving ski. This ski was easily named by those of us testing it as the Mini Pro after the Legend Pro and with good reason this ski truly does bring a new standard to the table.

The Legend Mythic Rider is offered either flat or with a plate system. The newest Dynastar plates are tailored to the individual ski and enhance grip, dampening, and pressure distribution. Choosing a flat ski allows the skier an option of a softer flex and a lighter set up and to use a binding of their choice. We carry the Legend Mythic Rider with the PX12 Fluid integrated ski and binding system.
