Sierra Says: The Vapor has been around for a few years now, and every season it continues to evolve. The first thing everybody notices about this board is its incredibly lightweight design. The root of this weight reduction lies in the Vaportech Alumafly core, which entails an aluminum honeycomb material to reduce weight while increasing strength. Burton also replaced much of the fiberglass with a carbon composite, complimenting the lightweight core and adding top-shelf performance. Underneath it all lays the sintered N2O WFO Base, which blends high and low temperature-reactive waxes with a super durable and absorbent high-density sintered material. We recommend this board for the experienced rider that is looking for a luxurious ride on groomed runs, off trail, and in the halfpipe.

Burton Says: No ones claiming Kevin Pearce is dusting his breakfast cereal with HGH, but it's obvious that something's giving him an unfair advantage. Setting a standard that the competition can't even fathom, the Vapor is so refined and effortless to ride that it brings out the best in anyone who gets on it. Just ask Kevin, the Vapors NASA-grade performance enhancements should practically be on trial with Congress.

Experience:   I demoed this board at breck last year and instantly fell in love. It is like having an exotic sports car strapped to your feet. You literally just think about where you want to go and the board instantly heads there. It is the lightest most responsive board I have ever ridden!!!!! Bruizza

Experience:   Just got back from Mammoth (Feb 26-March 1 2009) Picked up the Vapor, C60, and Ozone Boot from Sierra as a tax refund self present. Awesome deals at this website. Anyhow I was riding a Burton BMC X Custom bindings for 7 years. 1) Technology is crazy now - The new ICS system makes installation and tuning super easy 2) The board is super responsive compared to my old set up - But once I got used to it, I was screaming down the hill. 3) Not as light as I would have thought - it was more the response and stability that impressed. Thanks sierra!

Experience:   Pros : Damn good deal, lightest board you'll ever find. Takes a bit of time to get used to in how light the board is while riding but damn it's feels like i'm floating. Cons: Avoid rails (really, avoid them), and trees and etc. With the honeycomb like core, any hard hard impact might wreck the board and just leave you crying on the snow

Experience:   This is just a sick board. So light it feels like you're just wearing bindings. Love it or hate it, its sick no questions. On the its just so fast and poppy, but I hate the people who are watching you to see your board, thats the only con. Plus you can do boxes and tables on it no problem (for me at least) but no rails. Plus people try to steal it cause its just that awesome, so ur stuck paying another few bucks for a good lock. But seriously if you can afford this, go for it head on!

Experience:   by far the nicest board ive ever had very lightweight (with bindings it is lighter than most boards without bindings) Very fast, good at jumps, can use in park or pipe and even in the bowls or trees can use this board pretty much everywhere, but i wouldnt recomend for rails, since it is 1000 bucks. If you can afford it the vapor is definately worth the thousand dollars. Would recommend c60 or c02 bindings with this board

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Vapor
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Groomers,Jumps,Powder,Rails
  • Pros:  Strong edgehold

Experience:   There is always a debate surrounding the vapor...How can a $1000 board be good for intermediate riders? I suggest the vapor for an athletic rider who is intermediate (blue runs) and above. The vapor has amazing edge hold, but is still easy to initiate turns on. The best feature on the vapor is its pop and snap. This board will give you extra air time due to the light weight and fairly stiff flex. I am able to do 540s off small moduls on the vapor whereas other boards will only do 180s and 360s off small stuff. Be ready to catch some air!

  • Cons:  Too stiff

Experience:   Love the board...in powder. Feels like you're just floating at times. Because of that, it took a few runs to get used to. Overall great board, but because of the honeycomb core, you should have another board since you're going to have to baby this one.
