Sierra Says: Over the past few seasons, the Ion has certainly established itself as an industry favorite. This boot has one of the most universally comfortable fits out there, and performs like no-other as well. Also, it incorporates the EST sole which increase board feel and optimizes the rest of your EST setup. We recommend the Ion for the seasoned rider that is looking for supreme comfort, top shelf performance, and an overall stiffer, highly durable boot.

Burton Says: Ridden by more Burton (and non-Burton) pros than any other, the Ion easily lays claim to more podiums, covers, and videos than any other. The proving grounds for our latest innovations, this boot is built to adapt and destroy. The fastest, most adjustable lacing system locks you into the superior heel hold of a fully upgraded liner. The heightened feel of the EST midsole can even be fine tuned with the exclusive RX Adjustable Cushioning System.

"Burton Ion Review" 12/15/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Excellent Heel hold, Great adjustability, Comes with added cushions and heel inserts
  • Cons:  Took about 5 days to break in,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  11.5
  • Boot Size:  11.5

Experience:   I love my new Ions. They were the most uncomfortable boot I had ever ridden for the first 3-4 days, but now that I've got them broken in they are my new favorite and go to boot. The heel hold is remarkable and the stiffness adds quite a bit of responsiveness. If you have trouble with heel hold, I would definitely recommend this boot. There are additional heel inserts that can be used if you feel like you want more hold. Overall, this is an exceptional boot that is worth the investment. Don't give up on it after the first day!!!

"I thought these kind of sucked" 6/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  hype was great..,
  • Cons:  boots were faulty, burtons w48 is more like 48 days, terrible heel hold
  • Shoe Size:  9.5
  • Boot Size:  9.5

Experience:   Maybe I got a completely dud pair... I dunno. First thing I noticed was that the inners are very difficult to remove ... why remove them at all you ask? Well, because they were really wet... and the pair I got was really wet because both boots had holes in the rubber 'sealed' area at the base of the tongue that basically let snow melt right into the boot. So, back to shop who returned them to burton - that was in April... and I haven't heard a thing since. (It was a snow shop in France on Mountain). I still don't have a burton RA# either. In the 3 days I did ride with them I found the following: - fit was fine - terrible heel hold [I did not use the extra yellow inserts] - the quick lace system usually meant that the quick laces were hanging... trying to fit them and keep them into those side poclets never worked for me - quick lace system released a bunch of times without me noticing for a bit... I noticed it only when fatigued and thinking I was having a bad riding day (which I was, due to a loose damn boot) Now, some of that may be put down to me just not being familiar... but all those things happening at once... and the fact I got a dud pair which I still dont have replaced... not happy.

"Best I eva had" 4/18/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Speed Zone Lacing System, Works well with EST bindings, You can wear them all day
  • Cons:  Took me for runs to break them in,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  8 8.5
  • Boot Size:  9

Experience:   I hated these boots for the first 4 runs but after the break-in these are the best boots ever. The boots have a killer lacing system and are super comfy so I can wear them for 8 hrs and still fell my little toe. Didn't know they also came with extra sole inserts for diff stiffness. The boots is nice a stiff.

"Best in it's class" 12/10/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Great for hiking, Very responsive, Makes love to the feet
  • Cons:  None, so far,
  • Fit:  stiff
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   I tried on at least a dozen pairs of boots and the Ions were far more comfortable than any other boots I tried on. I have wide feet and they fit perfectly. They may not be the best for you narrow-footers. They are a stiffer boot, but not stiff like a ski boot. I've taken them from the backcountry to the park, to groomers and I'm happy with the feel of em. They broke in fairly quickly. After 15 days in and out of the resort, 20+ hours of hiking, these boots are still going strong and are my favorite set of footwear. I wish I could wear these to work. Try a pair on and you won't be dissapointed.

"Best Boot Hands Down" 11/30/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Fit like a glove, no heel lift, good for any riding style, new speed zone system is perfect
  • Cons:  white gets a bit dirty easily :),
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  9

Experience:   These are my 3rd pair of boots and not only fit the best, but have really improved my riding. I trust these more than any other boots and get them to the exact same tightness every time. The fit is very snug (how I like it) and can be adjusted to as loose or tight as you want. They look awesome and the flex is perfect in my opinion. I tried on many pairs of 09 burton boots and these were def worth the extra money. Cliffnotes: Best boots I have ever owned.

"Great boot with awesome performance." 5/24/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Comfort Comfort Comfort,
  • Cons:  a little pricey but that is Burton,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  8
  • Boot Size:  8

Experience:   I love this boot. It is very responsive. Most comfortable boot I have tried. I bought Driver X last year but could not ride them as they were very uncomfortable. If you like your boot a little stiffer without giving up comfort then I recommend the Ion.

"Love the boots" 5/14/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  fits great, comfortable liner,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  9
  • Boot Size:  8.5

Experience:   I never thought that I will have the opportunity to purchase these boots at such a decent price. The boots are awesome and fit great from the box but after heat molding, they make your feet feel like they are in heaven. The boots themselves are quite stiff but don't give me foot pains due to a great liner. If your looking for a do it all boot, this is what your after.

"Sooo nice" 5/2/2010

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Comfort, Speed lace,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   I remember the first time when i put my feet in these. I did not want to take them off. I ride a lot of park and for me this is just the perfect boot all around. The speed lacing is what i love the most. Its fast and never loosens at all during the day.

"Fantastic Boot" 4/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Ion
  • Pros:  Excellent heel hold with J bars, Looks awesome, Super comfy
  • Cons:  None so far,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  mid
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   As with all boots, the best ones are the ones which fit your feet. For me, it was these beauties. The speed lace system has been updated so shouldn't suffer from the fraying issues that plagued earlier Burton models.
