Sierra Says: The Freestyle is usually the first binding we recommend to new riders. It has been around forever and has been getting the job done since day one. Its soft, friendly flex is essential for the novice because it enhances control and limits unwanted response. This same design has also made it a favorite among park riders who need a buttery binder to tweak out tricks. One new component added for the 2010 season is the Team Skyback, the same highback that brought the Cartel to fame a few years back. Burton also threw in the new Adaptastrap toe strap which can be used either as a capstrap or traditional over-the-toe style. But, the best thing about this binding is you get all these features at a price anybody can afford. Guaranteed if you ask some of the best riders today what binding they started with, a majority would say the Freestyle.

Burton Says: With two decades of destruction to its credit, the legendary Freestyle proves that price means nothing when it comes to perfection. Picking up where the competition's so-called "premium" bindings bite the dust, its soft, forgiving flex is a dream in the park and makes stomping new tricks a cinch. Full adjustability makes for a perfect fit, while wall-to-wall EVA padding and the added heel-hold of the NEW Adaptastrap creates comfort that just won't quit.

"Burton Freestyle Great Value" 8/14/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Freestyle
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I picked up a pair of Burton Freestyle bindings after being bugged by other brands buckling systems. Burton has the rest beat for getting in and out of. Who needs the aggrevation of fiddling with your bindings as your friends jet off down the mountain? Plus, they adjust and fit great. I take care of my gear and these are still working fine on my backup board. Burton quality and desing can't be beat for the price.

"Solid Value" 3/10/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Freestyle
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Cons:  Difficult in & out, Poor adjustability, Uncomfortable
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   These are solid bindings for the price. I got them for $50 from backcountry and ridden on them a half dozen times. I got the green and gold style, and it's really a love it or hate it reaction to the design. I have an 08 Forum Seeker, so it looks great with it. That said, these bindings have small, little flaws which add up to a disappointing experience. The top strap has a hard time catching and clicking, making it difficult to strap in. There are definite pinch points which are exposed after time and create discomfort for your feet - no matter what boots you are wearing. You'd almost wish that Burton installed toe caps on these rather than the hybrid toe strap it comes with. And there's already a chip on the back from normal use. BUT, for $30-$50, you can't go wrong. If you're just starting out, don't plan on riding for long hours, or are on a budget, get these. If you're looking for performance and substance, do the smart thing and move up! Shoots and alohas!

  • Name: 2009 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  Cheap, Not bad beginner bindings,
  • Cons:  Lower end of the burton bindings,

Experience:   I rode these bindings for my first 2 years of riding and they were great to learn on but once I got more advanced I found I needed a more responsive higher end binding.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  toe cap, looks,
  • Cons:  responsiveness, no cushion, cap slips

Experience:   I mistakingly bought these bindings early last season when I was just getting into the sport. I soon realized they weren't much of a step up from my 5150 clickers~ they may look a lot better, as far as a binding goes you get what you pay for here. The next tier up is well worth the extra dough.

"best for price" 10/8/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  LIGHTweight, SOFT flex, LOW price

Experience:   I rode the 09 freestyles last season. They have a very soft baseplate, making them perfect for people just learning, or for someone who rides park. I would not recommend them for all mountain riders because they are probably too soft and do not have enough response. So these are pretty much the best bindings that you can get for the money if you are a beginner or an intermidiate to advanced park rider.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Freestyle
  • Pros:  durable, comfy,
  • Cons:  none,

Experience:   I borrowed the 09's from a friend. Easy in & out, pretty simple adjustment. Only problem was the toecap popping up on me once, but I'll give Burton the benefit and blame it on myself not strapping down tight enough. I own the 08's, and I'm glad to see Burton is going back to the flat toe strap this year. I loved them. No problems with durability on either year. Great, cheap binding, especially when you grab them at the discount price!
