Sierra Says: "The Fish is a perfect board for deep pow riding. This board comes with a 30mm taper which makes it almost impossible to nose-dive in powder, even if it is 5 feet deep of fresh. Compared to the Fish LTD this board is slightly easier to ride because its not as stiff and aggressive . If you want the full potential of this board you need to hike up hill, cat trip it, or make a heli drop off."
** Only Burton bindings will be compatible with the ICS system on this board**

Burton says: Shakas, slashes, and cold smoke. Terje, Nico, DCP, Jake and JG just can?t get enough of me. I?m that funky board attached to folks whose smile can?t be shaken by the snow stuck to their teeth. As if I couldn?t be any easier to ride, this year I get the new Swallow Tail and S-Rocker to enhance my already ridiculous float and agility. The Infinite Channel System gives me unlimited stance options with any Burton binding and the ability to surf barefoot with the new EST ShredBED accessory (sold separately).

"Gone Fishin'" 2/25/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (1) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Durable, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand

Experience:   once you ride a tapered board, youll never go back. its like a drug... but a good one. short, narrow tail with the swallowtail really sinks down in the snow, while the long, wide nose with a big nose kick stays on top like crazy. not only that, but now with the 09 model, you get rocker on the nose, so its even better. long story short, this is the "most floaty" board on the market. no need to size up.. and only size down if you ride a lot of tight spaces. otherwise, id recommend riding the board at your normal all-mountain size, or whatever is closest. needless to say, it kills it in pow. super maneuverable, super floaty, super stable, fast... i could go on for days. now lets get to the less talked about part.. groomers! people get so weird about tapered/setback boards on groomers. why? i have found them to be MORE stable and carve BETTER than your typical twin or twin-ish board. very stable and fast and carves like a knife. also.. sure, s-rocker is meant for additional float, but it helps on groomers. it takes a lot of the edge pressure away from the front and puts the main edge hold back between your feet, for the most part. tapered boards (with normal camber) tend to be a little hooky from the front because theres so much more nose, thus more edge hold coming from the front. if youre a good rider you will overcome this in the snap of a finger, but at the same time, its nice if you can avoid it. overall... killer pow board! and the less obvious part is that its actually perfectly awesome on groomers, so dont hesitate to buy it if your resorts pow runs only last for part of the run. have tons of fun shredding groomers on the way back to the lift.

"This board is fun!" 1/15/2008
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Fish
  • Pros:  It's almost impossible to sink with this board and no rear leg burn at all! The nose just keep sshooting up on you and it takes a while to get used to it, but once you do it is so much fun to ride. You can do surf style slashes with ease thanks to the really short tail.
  • Cons:  It rides ok on grooms but if you hit any tracks you need to hold on because of the short tail. I did a few jumps with it but it takes aome getting used to. Unless you are riding somewhere with huge powder all over, you need to bring a second board to swich to after a lot of tracks get laid.

"Fish + Powder = Conscious Nirvana." 10/9/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Fast, Fast, Fast., Easiest turns on powder, Super Rad 80's topsheet.

Experience:   An Incredible powder board, I have never had so much fun getting that real surf feel in powder! It's says to size down 2-4 cm from your reg. board length but, I ride a 158 on groomers, and I think the 160 is just fine. I'm 5'11 165#, and the 160 works just perfectly. The Swallow tail and narrow taper make the turns near effortless.

That would be powder only. Not boxes, rails, jumps, groomers, etc. POWDER good, though.

  • Cons:  NONE, WELL BORING GRAPHICS MAYBE,

Experience:   I've been riding for 24 years and can honestly say this is the best board I've owned. It holds it's own on groomers. faaaaast base. I liked the FISH so much bought 2, so I could let a bro try ride it. I just bought a Malolo 10 hours ago so look for a review on it (thanks Sierra Snowboard). Rip Washington POWDER

"Phenomenal Powder Board" 8/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Intermediate

Experience:   Exceptional evolution in the progression of snowboarding. On a powder day at Northstar last season, I demoed a 160 Fish from the previous year (2008) and then a 156 of one of these, and the 156 killed the older version. The combination of the S-rocker and the swallow tail made it far simpler to center up your weight and do away with leg burn. My only complaint is that I wish they made bigger sizes for more big mountain-type riding.

"Sick - Even on North Eastern Packed Ice and Groomers" 6/25/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Durable, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Great value, Soft

Experience:   No Cons - Slick base makes this beast a speed machine. Most of my time is spent riding packed ice or groomers here in the north east. I tool this baby out on a powder day and never stepped back on to my vapor through the whole season (I did use a T6 in the park so I could Blow out my ACL - Season ending with class). Even on groomers this thing is a blast. It's like riding a surf board. It's so tapered, all it wants to do is turn. I get a lot of looks, but the thing is such a blast to ride. When I am lucky enough to get a POW day, she owns the mountain. I can grab a tree line and float everywhere. Where others have a hard time getting through, I float effortlessly. I feel like such a pimp riding this thing in 12 of fluff (yeah - 12 inches in a day is a pow day for us here).

"Powder Deck" 4/28/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Well known brand

Experience:   This is a great powder board - and since Im on the East Coast right now, I have to at least be trekking up to Charlevoix to tote this puppy along. Absolutely great on any trips where you can find some powder. Otherwise, it takes some serious getting used to and will mess with your standard riding style.

"Best Powder Board Period" 2/25/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Fish
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Durable, lightweight, Popular model, Great value, Well known brand
  • Cons:  Top sheet scratches

Experience:   I have owned this board for 5 years and this is the best incarnation yet. The Fish is by far the best powder ride I have ever had. The thing floats like a champ, turns on a dime and coasts on tricky powder flats past all commers. If you want to take only one board to the mountain buy a Malolo ... almost as good in pow. But for the ultimate Powder experience you cannot go past the Fish. At 50% its a steal .... and they hold up in resale too.

"Best Powder Ride Ever" 1/15/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Fish
  • Pros:  This things floats without even trying. I used this in 3 feet of fresh Utah powder. Everyone but me sank.
  • Cons:  It is very powder specific. So if you don't get lots of snow don't bother with this board.

Experience:   This board demands respect. Everyone notices this board. Takes a little getting used to i wouldn't bomb the trees on your first run.
