Sierra Says: The Driver X is Burton's stiffest boot and is among the most aggressive on the market. The rider that will love this boot is the guy who enjoys hard, fast turns and assertive freeriding. Plus, with all of the tech and support incorporated into this boot, it's really surprising how insanely comfortable this boot fits. We recommend the Driver X for the advanced freerider that is looking for the benchmark in response and freeride performance.

Burton Says: For riders addicted to the sounds of jacket-flapping speed, there is no alternative. Rocket-fueled response meets 5-Star comfort, the Driver X propels riders up, over, and through anything with zero lag between eyes and action. If you think that perfect turns are all this boot's about, take a peek at any one of Frederik Kalbermatten or Kazu Kokubo's video parts- then see where that stereotype takes you.

  • Name: 2009 Burton Driver X
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Heel hold, Comfortable, Easy lacing, Durable, Traction, Good quality, Warm, Easy in & out, Well known brand
  • Fit:  heel is snug

Experience:   I have to agree will all the above post, right on point. I actually tore some ligaments in my ankle (aka very very bad sprain) a few weeks into the season ... short story is that I wore these bad boys and couldn't feel the pain at all ... bombed down the hill with no problem. If you like a stiff & very comfortable boot this is a fantastic buy.

Experience:   Not for the faint of heart. This boot is for hard charging it from groomers to the backcountry. These are my everyday boots. I did downsize a half size. Also, I highly recommend getting the liners heat molded...made a huge difference

  • Pros:  stiff,
  • Fit:  mid
  • Flex:  stiff
  • Shoe Size:  10
  • Boot Size:  10

Experience:   These boots were amazing for the first couple of weeks. Very responsive. Two months later they are completely packed out, the unbreakable draw cord lacing is all twisted and frayed and gets tangled up. These boots are now worthless. I am going to try to hassel them into replacing them. do not buy the only caveat is that I patrol in these boots so they probably have 50 ski days on them

"Hella stiff..." 6/29/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Driver X
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Heel hold, Popular model
  • Cons:  Uncomfortable
  • Fit:  narrow

Experience:   Responsive but RIDICULOUSLY STIFF... I wore these for 2 days and they left black/blue marks on my shins... Responsive, but they almost have zero flex.. I ended up returning them because by the third day they were seriously too painful to wear. I end up in Ride Crew boots and rode them the rest of the year. It you're used to ski boots or have an ankle injury, these are for you. Others proceed with caution.

"Burton Driver X" 1/18/2008
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Driver X
  • Pros:  The Driver X is the most powerful boot in the history of snowboarding, nay, the universe.
  • Cons:  Park rats will not be able to harness the power of the Driver X.

Experience:   The Driver X is much like the X-Caliber. Many warriors have attempted to rip this blade out of the craggy depths in which it has stood motionless for aeons. If you feel you are up to the challenge it may be time to clench the Driver X, take a glance upward, and pull. Do not pull hard for the Driver X already knows if it will let you ride it. The Driver X is like a woman. It knew long before you said hello wether or not you had a chance. If it feels you are worthy, it may let you ride it and bless you with seasons of aggressive turns and big mountain annihilation. X-Caliber is a myth, the Driver X is not. It exists and you may buy it.
