Sierra Says: The most popular board that we carry, the Burton Custom is practically a household name. This board has been around forever and continues to evolve throughout the years to keep up with the latest riding trends and demands of modern riders. The most identifiable characteristic of the Custom is its ability to be ridden anywhere and by just about any confident rider. This board is a blast on groomed runs, through the trees, and in the terrain park. Some of Burton's top riders utilize it's freestyle friendly design when catching big air in comps and video shoots, while most people enjoy pushing their limits on steep groomed runs and on the more inviting park jumps. It is difficult to recommend this board to any one type of rider because it is great for many styles, but in general, the Custom is best suited for a strong intermediate or advanced rider with just an overall passion for snowboarding. *Base color will vary from board to board.

Burton Says: Shredded daily by Mads, Heikki, and Mason on any terrain imaginable, there's a reason the Custom sets the standard that every company aspires to. Featuring the most proven ingredients, including a snappy wood core and accelerated base, this year's Custom unveils our NEW Lightning Bolts. Radiating outwards from the Channel, these fiberglass fingers send input from brain to edge in the blink of an eye, allowing thoughts to become actions with effortless precision.

"My Favorite Board" 4/20/2009
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Custom Second
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Groomers,Jumps,Powder,Rails
  • Pros:  lightweight, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Great value
  • Cons:  Top sheet scratches

Experience:   This is one of my favorite boards that I own, it does it all from grooming to park. It is not the most flexible board in the Burton line, but in my opinion, it is the beast All-Mountain Board on the market. Did I mention it was a great price at 50% off.

Most flexible board on the Burton line? I find that hard to believe.

  • Pros:  Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Strong edgehold, Great value

Experience:   Just got my board Friday, took it to two mountains over the weekend and am ecstatic, amazing board. Couldn't believe how well this board performed. Also, ICS and EST system is super easy to setup and adjust. Don't let your reservations about this system hold you back, it's great.

"Great All Around Board" 3/19/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Custom
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Groomers,Jumps,Powder,Rails
  • Pros:  Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Great value, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
  • Cons:  Top sheet scratches

Experience:   Before I upgraded to the '09, I was riding on my brother-in-law's '98 Custom. Until this day, his Custom is still in reasonable condition. Whether or not you're a Burton fan, if you just want a good all around solid board, the Custom is a great choice. Can't decide between park or pow? It probably won't excel as much as a more advanced board catered to your particular style (freestyle vs. freeride), but it still can handle both. Overall it rides well, plus it has the convenience of the ICS system. The top scratches easily though, I have a bunch on my tail and two gashes from someone in the lift line. It doesn't bother me though, if you ride, it's going to happen. If you want a board that can hold itself when you free ride but still do some justice when jumping or jibbing or hitting park stuff, the custom is a good choice.

Experience:   I copped the 167w. I love the CS because I can get that wide stance I like. I'm 6'6" 240lbs. so pressing it out is cake. it might be a little stiff for the lighter riders.

"Amazing Board" 6/4/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2007 Burton Custom
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Groomers,Jumps,Powder,Rails
  • Pros:  Durable, lightweight, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Great value, Well known brand

Experience:   This board was the first board I dropped a decent amount of cash on back in the early 08 riding season. I run it with the 08 Burton Mission bindings and the Burton Freestyle boots. I've gone from beginner-intermediate on this to intermediate-advanced. I love this board. It can handle any situation you throw at it. I rode this board on a nice grooms at Heavenly and deep pow at Squaw, as well as a nice trip out to Whistler/Blackcomb where it was icy for most of my time out there (sucked). Not once did it let me down. It carved well in all conditions except for ice (surprise), and it remained just as responsive as ever throughout the 2 seasons that I've ridden it. Jumps are great. This board has a surprising amount of pop to it considering Burton was touting this as an all mountain board and not a park board. Boxes and rails I can't really speak of because I'm pretty terrible at them. I average about 10-12 outings a season. And my set up is still pretty strong. One con, and it might just be my board, but the screws on my bindings that hold the board in need tightened more frequently than my previous boards. But then again, it might just be wear and tear.

  • Skill:  Intermediate

Experience:   This board is money! Rides smooth and fast. Great for all over the mountain. Graphics are pretty sick too. Bought this board with cartel est... what a great setup... you have a great feel for board control. Also rode it with a pair of '07 C60, good too, but not as good as with est bindings. Definitely recommend from beginner to advanced riders. Btw, alot of people say that the top sheet scratches easy, they must be scraping it with a knife, cuz its not bad at all.

"Burton Custom ICS Second Review" 3/31/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Custom Second
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Use:  Boxes,Groomers,Jumps,Powder,Rails
  • Pros:  Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Popular model
  • Cons:  Heavy, Top sheet scratches, Sluggish

Experience:   Great board. Graphic looks good. Topsheet does scratch easy relative to other board, and the scratches are quite visible on the black background. If you want a faster board, go with the X or better. The ICS system is great for its customizability. It has a little bubble that shows you angle and toe-heel offset. With two screws per binding, you can change your stance in 3 minutes flat. If you are just starting, it's really nice to play around with different binding settings to see what you like.

Experience:   This is my first board i own and it's my first season of riding. I can just say that thanks to the engineering enclosed in that board I am riding now black diamond runs and double black diamond runs !! 1st season of riding !! This board with Cartels EST and ION boots are AWESOME !! Jumps, powder, speed, carve .. you can do them all .. this board will do half of your job .. !! Don't worry about scratches .. I have them a lot after the season .. better go out and check your car for the scratches :) lol .. One more think to add .. I found this board extremely forgiving .. you can feel that something is wrong and you have tons of time to correct a mistake before you kiss the snow .. :)

Experience:   My first board. I'm lucky to have rich parents who support my love for snowboarding, but if you're a hardworking 9-5er looking to spend your hard earned cash on a stick (without much experience shopping for boards), this is probably the board you want. Just cant go wrong with the custom. Used it once now in the steep terrain / powder of North Carolina and fell in love with the custom. I hate north carolina.

Experience:   I've riden plenty of Burton boards, even back to the ol' BMC model, and this is by far my favorite! I also have a 2008 Dominant and I'm pretty reluctant on riding it again because this board does it all. I'm only 5'7" and like 125 lbs, and this thing is stable on groomers going 40+ mph. And yes, I bring my GPS cuz my friends and I are adrenaline junkies. ;) It's snappy enough to pop up onto just about anything from rails to trail sides without even trying, and the edges hold like a rice-burner on a track. This board will give any beginner confidence while still giving the advanced rider the time of their life. And at 50% off, you better buy it!!!
