Sierra Says: The most popular freestyle snowboard ever made. The Burton Custom is one of the most well known and loved snowboards that has been around for years. Every year the custom gets better and better. In past seasons it has had a wider brother snowboard called the Baron, which was the same snowboard as the Custom, just suited for the guys with big feet. This year Burton has joined the two and created a Custom in a wide model. The great thing about the Custom that makes it so popular is that anyone can have a blast on it. It is a mid-flexing board that is easy to ride for anyone from intermediate to advanced and it is a super fun snowboard for pro's to shred on. Pros like Mads Jonsson, Heikki Sorsa and Mason Aguirre swear by the Burton Custom.

The Burton Custom has been killing it for years and times have not changed. With all the amazing features of the years past, this board comes equipped with dope graphics and nasty steeze. Pull all the snow bunnies with this board.

Graphics: dont like
Jack of all trades, great at none
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Powder, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Cons: Too stiff, Too soft, Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: I bought this board to be the "short board" in my quiver. I was looking for something to play on when I go with my wife and kids. For me, the Custom is a board that is stuck between a bunch of boards that I want... too blah for free-riding and too stiff for the playing I want to do on a "short" board. I liked it, but never really loved it as it was not what I was looking for.

Nice Ride
Terrain Use: Jumps, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Popular model, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: It has a good feel to it but I wish I got the wide version. I wear a size 11 and I get the occasional toe drag. Other than that it's a great board.

WOW. Beginner2Advance in One WEEK.
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Stiff, Well known brand
Cons: Too stiff, Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: This is my second board, a 148. I purchased my first board, Liquid Twin 156, in 1999. I couldn't do anything besides sluggish craving. I rode it for couple of years til I broke my back (I injury it during work). After a few years, my back got better. So I went out to find a new board. In Feb. 2008 I went to SierraSnowBoard. The staffs were very helpful and they helped me picked an all mountain/ freestyle board that matched my body type and my riding style. They suggested Custom 151 but I wanted it to be easier to spin, so the staff suggested a 148. The first hours on this board sucked, cuz I forgot how to snowboard. After I got my groove back, I jumped from beginner to advance in a day. The only thing bad bout this board are: the top sheet scratches very easily. Now that I got better, I wanted a softer flexing board for easier butters and presses (nothing wrong with the board's flex, its just my new preference). Thanx Sierra

Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: i use this board absolutely anywhere and everywhere with me. if like me, you dont know which direction you heading towards. ie. freeride/freestyle, this board is the one for you. i love both off-piste and park, and if you cant afford two boards for powder and park. this can do all.

Solid board
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: I own two of these - the 2000 and the 06 models. The custom has long since been a benchmark because it is hands down one of the best boards on the market in my opinion. There are boards out there that will perform better in specific scenarios - but in terms of versatility nothing touches it (yet). This is the original quiver killer/atv of the industry - and it's a board just about anybody can jump on and progress with. Worth every penny.

If you had to settle on one board
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Easy to carve, Popular model, Great value, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Has a lower waist width than most of my other boards in the same size. Equates to quick edge-to-edge responsiveness. Always feels solid. It's the default board for every day riding.

burton custom- the best known stick in the sport!
Terrain Use: All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Great value, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: great board, alot of history in it

4/7/2008

Stiff, Slim and Poppy
Pros: I requested a black top Burton Custom however SS sent me a white one which was a little dissapointing but otherwise I really like the board. A little narrower then I expected because of the 10:45 sidewalls and the width measurment must be taken on the bottom base of the board. Stiffer then I expected but results in very good pop.
Cons: I agree with previous reviewers that said that matte finish on the ends will not hold up to much abuse.
Other Thoughts: My review is based only on carpet boarding since Michigans season ends in March.

3/6/2008

My first board and it's great!
Pros: Fast base, great control edge to edge, handles speed well, great pop off the tail
Cons: Scratches extremely easily on the top. Whatever isn't the design isn't protected since it's a matte finish.
Other Thoughts: Definitely a board that should last as I am an advancing beginner.

1/17/2008

Custom is a great board
Pros: Nice all around board. It's been around forever and is always tweaked a little every year to make it better. Great all around board that can handle anything. This board can do park to groomers, jibs to back country.
Cons: Doesn't have Burton's EST system or ICS so just standard binding placement
Other Thoughts: Looks great feels great, buy the Burton Custom

1/15/2008

Burton Custom-Most amazing board i've riden
Pros: This board is super fast. The Carbon I beam keeps this board really sturdy at hight speeds. It also has a lot of pop, so you could use it for freestyle if you want.
Cons: Really isn't anything bad about this board, except that you have to use burton bindings for the right connection to the board, but hey, they're burton bindings you have to use so they are AMAZING!!
Other Thoughts: Its a burton, and this board is the Cadillac of snowboards, good from pow to grommers to park. Get one and go shred HARDCORE!!

They really vary. It's hard to say if or when we'll get anything in particular back in
-- could be. which product are you looking for?
--- Yeah, we just got a closeout on them, so we may not even get anymore in. it depends on what the manufacturer still has to sell to us, if anything.

Question
I am an intermidate snow boarder. 5 8, 190 pounds. Woudl a Burtn Custom 156 work for me?
-- 9
--- I like freestyle. What be teh consequence be on the mountain?
---- Ok, thanks. What do you think of Fish?
----- OK, so for normal alround downhill I should stick with the Custom?
------ OK, Thanks, bye
Best Answer
It's a bit on the short side for someone of your build, but it's doable. What size foot do you have?
-- Yeah, you'll be fine on it. It'll be a good size for you if you're into freestyle riding. If you're looking at doing all mountain riding, it might be a bit on the short side
--- it won't be very stable at higher speeds, mainly because it's just a bit short for someone of your weight and height.
---- It's a great board for riding powder, but that'd be about it.
----- Yeah, just somewhere around a 158 to 160 would be a better size for you.

It isn't necessarily great for beginners, but if you've got the hang of turning a bit, it could be a great progression board for you.
