"great bindings." 3/24/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Cartel
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Easy in & out, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I haven't had too many issues with this set of bindings. I recently upgraded them to the '09 cartels. But don't really see any significant differences, may even favor these a bit more. The front strap seems more secure. But maybe it just takes a little time getting use to. Either way, you can't go wrong with these.

"Great Binding" 2/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2008 Burton Cartel
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Good construction quality, Comfortable
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   Had these bindings for 3 seasons now, and i ride my stuff very hard and they have not yet broken. Very comfy, stiff enough to be responsive but soft enough to be flexy and be able to press. But as with any bindings these are way comfy er with the high backs rotated. only thing i didn't like is that one time the strap screw got loose and it fell out while i was riding, but that was my fault for not checking my board before i rode it.

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel
  • Pros:  Easy In and Out, High Back for great boot hold, Light Weight
  • Cons:  Take some getting use to,

Experience:   Bought the 09's last year halfway through the season and haven't regreted it a day since! They go great with any Burton Boot and with my 32 Timba's also. Even in Icey conditions the ladders don't get icey. Most comfortable straps I have ever had, no pressure points at all. Super Responsive! Go Buy Them Now!

"Big Upgrade" 8/3/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel
  • Skill:  Advanced
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Boot hold, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   Having ridden my old tech nines into the ground (must have been 8yrs old) I finally got new bindings. The Cartels are of comparable weight, unfortunately not any lighter, maybe a bit heavier, though there is much more tech built into these. The adjustability is endless, frankly overwhelming for someone who rode basic binders for such a long time. But they go on the board just fine and do a good job with their intended use - keeping you connected to the stick. Much more comfortable, though take care with the boots you use, more on that later Gripes/concerns - I was used to bindings that would smash your foot in your boot and keep you tightly locked in - there is more play to this binding, probably in part due to my really old boots. The binding does a great job of holding your BOOT in place, which adds comfort. It does not keep your foot from wiggling in your boot as much as my old models did. So size your boots appropriately. With this being said I never felt as if I had less control or decreased responsiveness from the binding. The highbacks are monsters, watch out for low riding lifts & getting it caught underneath. They are fairly malleable and i really don't have a problem with them digging into my calves, I just keep the forward lean to a minimum, esp the first few times out in the season. The cap strap is rad, helps to maintain circulation down in the toes on really cold days vs smashing them with a toe strap over the top. I have yet to ride this binding for a full hard season, so I can't speak to durability, but I expect a lot from my bindings since my last ones survived for so long.

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model
  • Fit:  must be adjusted bigger

Experience:   Great bindings. Very responsive and easy in & out. I don't know about everyone else, but when I got mine (medium), they were way smalll and I had adjust it pretty drastically to fit. Maybe it just comes like that? But now everything is fine and they work well.

"The Binding makes the difference!" 10/10/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Super Cush Straps and Gas pedal,
  • Cons:  Only the Burton 3D disc is padded, not the 4x4. ,

Experience:   I finally swapped out my old Rossi bindings for the Cartels, and it is like riding a brand new board. The toe caps and cushioned foot bed make all the difference in the world. All I can say is that I'm sold on Burton bindings and it will take intervention to switch to anything else.

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel
  • Pros:  Look Cool, baseplates guarenteed for life
  • Cons:  I have broke 2 base plates on them now., Not very durable,

Experience:   I have owned 2 now and at the end of each season I broke a base plate on each pair. At least they are guaranteed for life with a receipt. Too bad I lost it for the second ones... I have moved onto Ride Beta bindings. Less vibrations and metal baseplate!

"Great Binding " 9/22/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Cartel
  • Pros:  Great value, Fit and adjustments, Finish
  • Cons:  Ultra-Minimized Capstrapâ„¢ Construction with True W, Forward lean adjustment,

Experience:   Awesome binding for all conditions and riding styles. The Ultra-Minimized Capstrapâ„¢ Construction with True Wrap Toe Window was difficult for me to find the right adjustment for best comfort and feel. Once you find it, it's good. The forward lean adjustment took some brut strength to move and to me seemed to take several turns to feel the new setting. Once I found my settings it was a nice ride.
