Sierra Says: The most popular of the EST family, the Burton Cartel EST is the standard in all-mountain freestyle. This is the binding of choice for many pro riders and weekend warriors alike. The reason the Cartel EST is so widespread is because it blends the elements of performance, mobility, board feel, value, and comfort together and can compliment just about any Burton board featuring the Channel. We recommend the Cartel EST for the intermediate or advanced do-it-all rider with a Burton Channel snowboard.

Burton Says: A park slaying, pow slashing, cliff dropping, pipe smoking, muffin buttering, peak to parking lot tour de force- the Cartel EST is our most capable freestyle binding. Shredded daily by Jeremy, Heikki, Tadashi, Mason, and Kevin, it's no wonder this is the target every competitor is aiming for. With the comfort and control of an anatomical hi-back and added feel and cushioning of the NEW SensoryBED II, dreams don't get more real than this.

"Cartel EST" 4/1/2009
Helpful Review?   (5) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I just got a pair of the EST Cartel's and I love them! They are extremely adjustable in every aspect, super easy to install and very comfortable. the EST/ICS system definitely changes the way the board feels and responds. I love the extra feedback it gives and the increased "feel" of whats going on underneath me. Its like watching a movie on standard DVD (4x4 & 3d) and then watching the high-def version (EST) after. Still the same movie, just more detail and clarity. Besides that, I really appreciate the level of support that the Cartels have, it's much better than the P1s I've owned and it seems to be the perfect medium for me. I found them to be more supportive without sacrificing any comfort. The response of the bindings is awesome too. It's kind of a snappy, slingshot response and I'm diggin it. It seems to be a slightly delayed, but I like it because it responds with more energy than what you invested. Not to be confused with the economy : ) At $124.98 for a brand new pair of EST's, you'll be happy you bought 'em!

"ICS/EST setup = Very Sweet!!!" 2/21/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Easy in & out, Boot hold, Good construction quality, Comfortable, Well known brand
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I purchased this to complement my 2009 Burton Custom ICS board. I really like the ICS/EST setup because angle adjustibility and binding distances are precise and can be adjusted quickly. Straps are very well cushioned as expected from a quality Burton product. Overall, binding feels very responsive to slight heel/toe movements. The graphics on the bindings matches very well with the 2009 Burton Custom ICS 154cm.

Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  adjustability, great feel, light
  • Cons:  N/A,

Experience:   buy em' up it's an awesome deal, not only for the price, but the quality is top notch. and they excel on it ALL. slightly stiff, but still feel pretty playful. i thought at first they were a bad choice due to a steep forward lean even after setting it as far back as it went. but i just rotated the sky backs to be parallel to my heel edge allowing flawless support when i called on it, yet out of the way otherwise, and with that not even there feel you cant go wrong.

Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  Comfy, responsive, sick style
  • Cons:  Over sized,

Experience:   Got these Sick looking Cartel' in inmate orange size L, because my boot size is 10.5 had to exchange these for M at a local store because they were too huge for me wouldn't hold me in even on lowest settings. And M seems to still have room for bigger boot size. I would say if you are 11 or smaller GET a Medium.

"Weak construction" 3/23/2009
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Easy in & out
  • Cons:  Boot slippage
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I like the bindings, but after 5 trips to the mountain the right toe cap does not hold stay on at all. The metal piece on the back of the right binding broke in half, at the moment this does not cause any problems, but is not esthetically pleasing. I wish the bindings were made to last a bit longer.

"The best" 11/4/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  very responsive , reasonable price, ICS is really cool, any stance you want

Experience:   I had a pair of 2006 cartels up untill I got these last season. the 2006's were great and held up through three seasons. and the 2009's seem to be following in their foot steps. no pun unintended. they are comfortable and responsive. and if my 2006's are any indicator they will handle a fair share of abuse.

  • Pros:  Really Comfy Straps,

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton Cartel EST
  • Pros:  light weight, style, flex
  • Cons:  mega bed,

Experience:   i have the the first est's from 08 but if anyone else has tried them you know the hi-back is pretty stiff and are a little bit heavier.. so i like the flex of these bindings the hi-back is'nt so set like on the previous est.. my only complaint is the mega bed there's nothing wrong with it i just wish it came with the cant bed like the un-inc's but all in all this is a awesome binding... if your a competent person the setup is easy... ive herd some people having some difficulty with the stance angles when they have their back foot really positive...but i guess im within what burton calls infinite stance angles
