Burton CO2 EST Snowboard Bindings 2010

Sierra Says: When it comes to bindings, the CO2 EST stands alone on a platform that casts a showdown over other snowboard bindings. This freeride machine offers fine tuned precision in all aspects. Instant heel to toe response gives you a control over your board that you never knew you could accomplish. The new Cored Ultrastrap Air give you comfort that usually does not come with such a high performance binding. Do I even need to mention that Burtons EST system gives you a ride that will keep you checking to make sure you're still wearing your boots. Ride hard, ride the CO2 EST.

Burton Says: The CO2 EST is like strapping yourself into a Tomahawk missile. Split-second decisions are made possible with the ultra-light carbon-blended fuselage while the spring-like suspension of the SuperBED dodges and deflects park, pipe, and pow shrapnel with laser precision. Add the forget-it's-there feel and mind-reading control of an anatomically shaped strap and hi-back, and the CO2 EST reacts before anything else has a chance to.

"What else can be said - it's the C02" 8/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Easy in & out, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   What can be said that hasn't been said already. It's super lightweight, super reliable, hard charging c02. Demo'd this in march with a 2010 Supermodel in nice deep powder. Comfortable, easy to adjust, easy to get it set up the way you want it - just strap in and go. My only complaint with this binding - is on powder days I like to ride really big angles on my front foot. Like - +24 to +30. Problem is, with the EST / ICS it made it a little tricky. The only way I could get those kind of angles, is if the binding was pulled back towards the heel edge of the board. This meant my heel was hanging off one edge, while my toe was nowhere near the other edge. Far from an ideal setup. For typical stances this isn't an issue - and perhaps a different size binding would have made life easier - but this really presented some problems. I could either go with my normal stance - but now toe-side turns become difficult, or I could bring my stance in, which just feels un-natural. Can't really fault the binding or the design - it's just not quite as easy to set up if you're riding a more distinct stance then perhaps it should be. Again, could have simply been a sizing issue. I ended up finding a workable comprise after a couple of runs - and was pretty impressed with how they handled. Good response, super lightweight, gave you what felt like a good amount of power and stiffness - without some of the discomfort that can come with a powerful/stiff binding.

"My FAV!!!" 4/22/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Feel - Stiffness, Responsiveness, Comfortable,
  • Cons:  PRICE..., scratches easy...,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   I've been thru sets and sets of bindings and at the end of that long, difficult journey, I've found the CO2's... I've tried EVERYTHING from flux, flows, salomons, unions, ride, cheaper burtons and NONE of them stacks up to the CO2s! These are definitely stiffer than Cartels (which I still have 2 pairs of 08 & 09's) but they are not as stiff as the C60's.(which I thought was a little too much for me...) I like the ankle straps and toe caps more than the typical bindings. I ride mostly all-mountain so these work perfect for my needs. if you're a park-rat, these might be too stiff for you... I have these bindings on my 09-10 Custom V and Joystick and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! wouldn't change a thing!!! my only complaint is the price... I can barely afford these at 50% off, I can't/won't buy them at full pop... that's just outrageous!!!

"CO2 EST... best binding I have ever used." 3/17/2010
Helpful Review?   (1) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Straps are incredible, Footbed is ultra confortable, Easy adjustment
  • Cons:  Price (unless on sale at Sierra), Color selection,
  • Flex:  mid

Experience:   These are simply the best EST bindings I have ever used. I admit, I would have bought the Cartel ESTs had it not been for the incredible sale price on these bad boys. For me, the straps and upgraded ratchets on these bindings are the major improvement over the Cartels. Riding, these feel very solid yet the footbed is incredibly comfortable. The construction of the binding straps really accommodate toe capture and, to date, I have not had any issue with it slipping back on my boot. All in all, when in comes to bindings of the EST variety... the CO2 literally kills it.

"Looks great on my Board" 6/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Stiff, Confortable, easy in and out
  • Cons:  too big even on a wide board, high back is very high, not as light as marketign wants you to beleive
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   I just got this binding this weekend to pair it with a new vapor I got at a crazy discount. This is a very stiff binding. compared to everythign else at teh store this requiere some muscle to flex with your hands. VERY easy to install and adjust with the EST/channel setup. you get much more control over your stance when you can accurately adjust angles and distance with the very easy to read markers. The bed of the bindings is crazy comfortable yet stiff. It did not make much sense to me that there is a hard clear plastic piece between your boot and the cushioning but once it was standing on the board the mix of stiffness and comfort is awesome. There are so many setting s for your straps that no matter what boot you wear I am 100% sure you will find a setup that will make them comfortable. HOWEVER, the binding is too big even on my wide board. I extended the gas pedal to the max and it was hanging over the edge of 162Wide board, NOT good. I had to set them one level shorter. Even with this setup my boots feel great on them and I have full support. My guess is that if you own a 167W and you wear size 14+ this binding will hold you great and maybe it is designed for that /shrug? The high back is very TALL. My hail boots have an air cushioning so you high back doesn't bite. but this are so tall they easily go over it basically making that feature of my boots pointless. The materials used for this binding ARE lighter but the over all weight is the same than a non EST cartel. I actually weighted my board with an Electronic scale and my setup was only 1/8 of a pound lighter. I guess having that large highback and the and the extra features add the weight back. My review is based is based on my experience while shopping for it and setup at home. I'll add more info once I ride it a few days.

"Amazing!" 5/1/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  EST channel technology, Lightweight, Super responsive
  • Cons:  Durability?, Price,

Experience:   These are my first bindings with channel technology and I am impressed. Looking forward to changing stances on the fly next season! Coming from riding Rome bindings, I am a little concerned with the durability as Rome did have superb build construction. Looking forward to riding with this binding in 2010.

"Comfortable and responsive" 4/19/2010
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Firm and responsive, Comfortable straps, Fairly light weight
  • Cons:  Pricy,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   I love these bindings. They're on the stiff side, but that's what I was looking for. I have them mounted to my T6 and its a killer combo: fast and stable. I like the straps on these, they hold the boot well without having to crush my feet. Great choice for a long day of riding on or off mountain. I traded boards with my buddy for a day and these are a definite upgrade from the 2009 CO2s.

"Great responsiveness" 11/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Very responsive, Secures boot well, Adaptable to varied riding styles
  • Cons:  Hang over the board a bit, Strap screws loosen easier than expected, Somewhat too expensive for the extra features
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   Great bindings. Like mentioned here already, only complaint is that they hang over the board a bit. I have a size 13 boot and had to move my stance back and pull the gas petal on these in some so that i could cut as aggressively as i wanted. Other than that, they give you a great feel for the board and excellent responsiveness.

"C02 EST bindings Review - Comfort in Control" 9/21/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  awesome adjustibility, lightweight, stiff flex
  • Cons:  bottom toe bed piece broke,
  • Flex:  stiff

Experience:   This binding was matched perfectly with my eco nico board. I had the EST track setup which makes adjusting it a simple thing to do even on the mountain! Footbeds provide great cushioning while being stiff as well. This binding rocks
