Sierra Says: When it comes to bindings, the CO2 EST stands alone on a platform that casts a showdown over other snowboard bindings. This freeride machine offers fine tuned precision in all aspects. Instant heel to toe response gives you a control over your board that you never knew you could accomplish. The new Cored Ultrastrap Air give you comfort that usually does not come with such a high performance binding. Do I even need to mention that Burtons EST system gives you a ride that will keep you checking to make sure you're still wearing your boots. Ride hard, ride the CO2 EST.

Burton Says: The CO2 EST is like strapping yourself into a Tomahawk missile. Split-second decisions are made possible with the ultra-light carbon-blended fuselage while the spring-like suspension of the SuperBED dodges and deflects park, pipe, and pow shrapnel with laser precision. Add the forget-it's-there feel and mind-reading control of an anatomically shaped strap and hi-back, and the CO2 EST reacts before anything else has a chance to.

"What else can be said - it's the C02" 8/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (3) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Easy in & out, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   What can be said that hasn't been said already. It's super lightweight, super reliable, hard charging c02. Demo'd this in march with a 2010 Supermodel in nice deep powder. Comfortable, easy to adjust, easy to get it set up the way you want it - just strap in and go. My only complaint with this binding - is on powder days I like to ride really big angles on my front foot. Like - +24 to +30. Problem is, with the EST / ICS it made it a little tricky. The only way I could get those kind of angles, is if the binding was pulled back towards the heel edge of the board. This meant my heel was hanging off one edge, while my toe was nowhere near the other edge. Far from an ideal setup. For typical stances this isn't an issue - and perhaps a different size binding would have made life easier - but this really presented some problems. I could either go with my normal stance - but now toe-side turns become difficult, or I could bring my stance in, which just feels un-natural. Can't really fault the binding or the design - it's just not quite as easy to set up if you're riding a more distinct stance then perhaps it should be. Again, could have simply been a sizing issue. I ended up finding a workable comprise after a couple of runs - and was pretty impressed with how they handled. Good response, super lightweight, gave you what felt like a good amount of power and stiffness - without some of the discomfort that can come with a powerful/stiff binding.

"CO2 EST: Exceptional " 7/25/2009
Helpful Review?   (2) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2009 Burton CO2 EST
  • Skill:  Intermediate
  • Pros:  Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Easy installation
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   Well, this is one of the few items that I didn't buy from Sierra. Unfortunately, they were out of stock and unable to feed the need. However, this binding is awesome. I have a regular pair of CO2's as well, but needed EST's for a new Hero I purchased. Note: IF you have boot slippage in this binding, YOU have not adjusted your bindings correctly or cinched them tight enough or, face it you bought a size that was too large. The padding and straps on this binding are superior to any I've had. The highbacks are more durable that that of the Triad (the threadding between the frame was not durable at all and had other structural problems as well).

Experience:   Absolutely Fabulous! Combined with the Burton Custom X ICS I was able to ride for 5 days straight in Park City after wrecking my ankle 1 day before in a dirt bike accident (Check photo). Not only ride but totally shred the mountain. Suburb comfort and response. After one run with a friends Burton Bullett and Burton bindings I wanted my board back and he's now looking to buy the same setup. There 50% off, stop crying. Ill never use regular bindings again. Cant wait to see how it handles in the park next year.

"Why not? oh price, well get them when they go on Sale!!" 11/11/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Easy in & out, Good hold, Light weight, Strong Hold
  • Cons:  none for me, price for others?,

Experience:   What's not to like here, other then the price, you can find them cheaper(on auction, on ebay) or you can wait till after the season and pick them up at a good price. Regardless the performance from this binding is outstanding and Top Notch. This maybe more of an expert level binding but I wouldn't shy away if you an Inter. level rider either.

"Great responsiveness" 11/5/2009
Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  Very responsive, Secures boot well, Adaptable to varied riding styles
  • Cons:  Hang over the board a bit, Strap screws loosen easier than expected, Somewhat too expensive for the extra features

Experience:   Great bindings. Like mentioned here already, only complaint is that they hang over the board a bit. I have a size 13 boot and had to move my stance back and pull the gas petal on these in some so that i could cut as aggressively as i wanted. Other than that, they give you a great feel for the board and excellent responsiveness.

Helpful Review?   (0) Yes    (0) No

  • Name: 2010 Burton CO2 EST
  • Pros:  awesome adjustibility, lightweight, stiff flex
  • Cons:  bottom toe bed piece broke,

Experience:   This binding was matched perfectly with my eco nico board. I had the EST track setup which makes adjusting it a simple thing to do even on the mountain! Footbeds provide great cushioning while being stiff as well. This binding rocks

  • Pros:  Adjustability, Easy in & out, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Easy installation
  • Cons:  Boot slippage
  • Fit:  fits fine

Experience:   I rode on these for two days. Comfortable, Good foot hold. However the toe bed part of the foot plate snapped. Its a little lip, which didnt hinder my riding, but for $400+ these things should be indestructable! I called Burton, they have a life time warranty on their baseplates, but the guy quickly said this has never happened before and questioned my claim?! Im and engineer, and this part of the binding is poorly designed, and I can see it happening again. I will just have to keep returning them!

Experience:   I like these for all mountain riding and back country. These are super light and stiff. I really like the new toe strap. It really helps lock your foot down and back. I use the Burton Cartel's if I plan on hitn the park and pipe all day.The only bad thing I have to say is the price is way too high on all Burton high end products! (don't they know were in a recession...?) I got em on sale w/free overnight shipping.
