Rossignol S5 Barras Skis

For ’09, Rossi has taken their backcountry-freeski line and given each model a different and distinct graphic with each model styled by a different artist. The general theme is the "seven deadly sins"

The S5 is the former Scratch Brigade and remains unchanged. This ski has been well respected as a big mountain twin for some time and the feel is the same as it has always been. The S5 is a nice blend of float, power and nimbleness. While skis this big are getting out of the range for park use, this is a full twin tip rather than just a kicktail. That, combined with a moderate flex allows occasional use in the park. The S5 is quite stable in crud and floaty enough in powder for many skiers to consider this as a dedicated powder ski. The S5 it is really best suited for the skier that is willing to give up a little in the deepest snow, in order to have a more versatile ride that considers all conditions including a bit of park use. I like the 178 for my size (5-10" 190#) and find the general feel to be damp and quiet.
