We classify the Coomba as a "Big Mountain" ski rather than "powder specific" This means that it has a conventional shape and could easily be adaptable as an everyday ski for someone who prioritizes deep snow far above other considerations. The Coomba fits squarely in the medium flex range among skis of this type. This is a ski with a tighter sidecut radius than most in the category and as such it is turnier than most. While nobody buys skis this big for excellence in moguls, anyone that skis off the trails much if not most of the time is going to encounter them. Imagine a run like North Bowl or the Slot at Squaw Valley on the day after a storm. The POW has been gone since yesterday noon and what’s left is a mix of cut up soft snow with maybe some clumps starting to coalesce into something that will be moguls in a few days. The Coomba is better than most of its competitors in those conditions. The quick 22M turn radius combined with the pretty light build, gives the Coomba a very nimble and easy feel. The Coomba is not as stable at high speeds in rough snow as stiffer big mountain skis but rather it trades that burliness for maneuverability. Generally skiers that want that type of high speed platform know who they are and know what skis to look for. The Coomba is for most everybody else. Terrain Category: Big Mountain
