Sierra Says: "The Custom X is a super versatile all-mountain snowboard. It shreds hard in the pipe, but also slays it on the mountain and through the trees. This board is very fast and aggressive on groomers and can easily stomp huge kickers and cliff-drops. Its Stainless Steel PDE gives the board incredible edgehold while also eliminating the possibility of rusty edges . If you are an advanced rider that loves the steep groomers and backcountry booters, pick up a Custom X and find out what all the buzz is about.
** Only Burton bindings will be compatible with the ICS system on this board**

Burton says: Accelerated all-mountain freestyle. DCP approaches a granite face for a switch five. Kazu rockets above a 22-foot transition. Frederik floats down a pillowy face. Marko schools every possible spin off a crisp Hemsedal booter. Precise, fast and nimble on all terrain, and now upgraded with the unlimited adjustability of the Infinite Channel System, the Custom X is the planet?s premier wood core board. Also available in sizes for Bigfoots ready to take orbit.

I tested this last season and love it!
Terrain Use: Speed, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: Durable
Other Thoughts: Im a big footed guy and always wanted a wider board that manuevers and handles like a samurai sword. This is it. Good amount of pop and silky smooth edges. Would recommend to anyone.

Pros: lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Well known brand

Other Thoughts: I got this in a 156. Its a good all round board. Can use for backcountry, but can also use in the park. nice board . Highly recommended.

Pros: lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: Awesome board with so much pop. Super fast in any condition but not very durable. leave it at home in spring conditions

'09 Custom X Wide
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Great value, Stiff
Other Thoughts: Many years ago I tried a wide board due to my size 13 boot, and I hated it!!! It just didn't perform, so I switched to a regular dimension board. After a few years, I saw burton put the custom out as a wide. I never thought a wide board would work, but with this, I couldn't even tell. Super fast, agile and good for everything. I didn't even know the board was wide - aside from the fact that my feet didn't drag.

Rock Steady Bomber, Poor turn initiation
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Powder, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: This board is a highly venerable stalwart of hill bombing, regular or switch, but is simply not nimble or responsive enough at moderate to slower speeds for satisfying carving, and too stiff for fluid and easy freestyle trickery. I currently own an '09 160 and an '09 158. I'm 170 and ride both of these ducked at reference stance. Surprisingly, there is significant difference between the two. The 160 feels far more stable during high speed turning. The 158 tail gets knocked around and washed out far easier than the 160 for me, sometimes forcing me to safety-revert while bombing. It produces far more chattery and bouncy feedback when I speed check at moderate to high speeds as well. About me: I'm an all-mountain rider since 1984. I'm a size 10 who mainly rides DriverX boots due to an ankle injury. I used to be primarly a carving and bombing freak but in the last few years have really been turned on to mixing in heavy switch riding, butters, ollie and jumping rotational stuff. Like I everyone else, I love powder but living in California means that deep powder days are pretty infrequent. My current quiver is as follows: '07 164 K2 Nemesis '07 161 K2 Nemesis '09 160 Santa Cruz Gian Simmen TT Pro '09 160 Burton Custom X '09 158 Burton Custom X '06 157 K2 Nemesis '09 156 Burton Jeremy Jones '09 152 K2 World Wide Weapon '08 123 Rossignol Mini If I could only have one of these boards I'd take the Jeremy Jones. For me, the only thing I like it BEST for is slashing and moderate to higher speed rotational antics, but it does just about everything quite well so I consider it the most versatile board in my quiver.

09 Burton Custom X 159W
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Great value, Popular on mountain, Stiff, Well known brand
Cons: Too stiff
Other Thoughts: Although I think that Burton Let the graphic go to waste this year this board is incredibly fun to ride especially with the ICS system. You will kill anywhere you take this board, it is a true quiver killer! i will say that this years board does feel a little stiffer this year compared to the 2008, i liked last years flex better. but other than that there is not one complaint.

Awesome board i Recommend!!
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Speed, Powder, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: lightweight, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Great Strong board, Carves easily and the ICS system on it is great" but the only issue with it is the EST bindings will possibly move on you like it did me..... coming off a 6 ft cliff jump and wiping out the binding moved on me a little..... not to much but it will happen (i had them cranked down well) The Stainless steel edges are awesome! no Rust! also the graphics on the board are super clean and nice, the top being Flat black with a very faint swirling designs throughout the black part is awesome along with the Blue waterdrop affect on my 159 W a Side note to my review- The Burton CX is Fassst my friend whos 6'5 and 230 pounds had a 180 W cm board compared to me 6'3 182 pounds and on a 159 W -me and him go head to head alot and i am just as fast on straight runs. on a groomer/ powder i can of course leave him cause of how well this board carves and it being easier for me to whip it around. for beginners the board is a little stiff but for quick learners and intermediate riders its perfect

Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Just picked this board up this season and i really like the stiffer flex for going down bigger runs. It is very responsive when riding fast. I also like the fact that it has a lot of pop so i do not have to straight-line as fast when going off bigger kickers. I also really like the lightweight feel it has as well. Its a dope board and im stoked to have gotten it.

Burton Custom X ICS 159W
Terrain Use: Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Speed, speed, speed!! This thing is fast! Not so fast on slow wet snow or small inclines but ANY other surface and decent inclines and this thing takes off like a rocket with extreme control and stability. The edges are unreal. They will cut into anything. In fact its actually hard to catch an edge because it rips right through anything, from powder to ice. Dont run your friend over or they might loose a digit. Control is unimaginable until you ride it. As for a railroad, either your board is to big or learn to ride the bumps. I took this thing to the top of Park City 5 days in a row with a busted ankle and semi icy moguls. Was still the first one down every time with only one working foot. Jumping and Parks were not doable with stupid ankle (see pic) but flex/stiffness is a pro in all other ridding conditions. Side note, this thing flat rides awsome. Where other boards chatter or have to be ridden on an edge the Custom rides flat and stable allowing for more comfort and speed. I cant wait until next season when I can take this God out with two working feet. If you're thinking about buying this board stop thinking and go get your wallet NOW before its gone! One run on the Burton Bullet with Burton bindings and my ankle couldn't handle it. Back to the Custom and everything was fine. Burton Custom X ICS 159W w/ C02 EST You can use other bindings as the board comes with an adapter, but why would you put regular crappy tires on a Ferrari?

Graphics: awesome
Stable
Terrain Use: Powder, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: lightweight, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold
Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: This is my 1st Custom X and I like it better than the rest of my boards. I did a couple of runs already. First, it's very light or at least light enough to lug around. Another thing I noticed is it's more stable at faster speeds. The edges are sharper but the edge hold is less than I expected especially in snow conditions at spring time. I don't do parks so I can't comment the stiffness. Overall, I love this board and having bought it at Sierra for a discount just makes it sweeter.

Can't imagine a better board.
Pros: Strong edgehold, Great value, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Just won this custom X 159 wide in the giveaway last week, and took it out for a spin yesterday for the first time. It took me a little bit to get used to how fast I would pick up speed. I've never gone so fast in my life. Also I was getting real big air (for me) in the park, with a nice soft landing every time. The way this board carved up the heavy, slushy lumps and bumps was very impressive, and I felt like I could just bomb down the hill right through all the bumps with no problem. The graphic is so cool, the board is like a work of art. Very simple but with great attention to detail. One thing you don't notice unless you see it in person is on the top, in the black part of the board there are little swirly lines etched in that make for a cool effect, especially when the sun is reflecting off the board. The water design on the bottom is awesome. I wouldn't trade this board for anything. It probably isn't too good for beginners since it goes so fast and picks up speed so quickly, you might get out of control if you aren't in command. But if you are an experienced boarder looking to dominate the mountain and speed past all your friends, look no further than the custom X. Also it was free for me so it was obviously an amazing value. Thank you Sierra!!!!!

Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: Awesome board, what ive been riding for a while now. Great at high speeds, never had a problem with the edges with the exception when i sharped them once a little to much and it cut through my boot laces while i was sitting on the lift later in the day, but i guess its a tribute to how well the edges hold.

Great all around board
Pros: Strong edgehold, Great value, Popular on mountain, Stiff, Well known brand
Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: Couldn't be happier with this board. I got the 08 model but it has been a dream machine. Stable and sure footed gives me confidence picking up more speed.

Pros: lightweight, Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Holy crap it's fast, stable, and stiff. Moved up from a Head Force, and the Custom X provides much more confidence when bombing down runs. Great to take your skills from intermediate to advanced.

Great Board! Nicks easily
Terrain Use: Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: lightweight, Easy to carve, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Cons: Top sheet scratches
Other Thoughts: This board rides great! The ICS system is easily adjustable, however my screwes loosened up on the first day; after retightening they held good. One thing that i am dissapointed about this board is the top layer nicking so easlily. The top is black and the layer under neith is white. After three days of riding i have a few nicks in it already. Some companies cap the ends so the layers aren't exposed. I assume Burton did not cap this to allow for flex. Othewise it is a great ride!

Very Nice Board
Terrain Use: Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Easy to carve, Stable at high speeds, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: I really like this board. Not as stiff as the T6 so a little easier to handle, but certainly not a beginner board. Very stable if you like to go fast and rail.

Burton Custom X ICS Review
Terrain Use: Jumps, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Popular on mountain, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: The CustomX holds an edge well, and it cruises GREAT in powder. Defiantly A AWESOME all-mountain freestyle board for advanced riders, so much of what I'm about to say will apply. Let me quickly add, before losing new riders, that although the X is a terrific advanced board. Also It's A Great Beginner Board, Even though Burton Does Not Market A Such (due to stiffness) it gives a new rider a immediate advantage over other beginners... Unless You Plan On Only Riding Park, i Would Immediately Discourage Purchasing This Board If You Plan To Hit Local Parks On The Weekend.. Does Not Do Well Due To It's Stiff Construction, As One review above says Above "It Feels Like A Railroad Tie Over Bumps" But If You Are Going All Mountain It Holds Well In Carving Through Ice & Powder Due To It's Somewhat Stiff Construction so no more skidding across the top of a sheet of frozen snow :) . One Con Though Is You MUST WAX OFTEN ! if you expect to ever keep a smooth fast ride.. Fast, Oh Yea.. That's Another Thing, The Burton Custom X HAS SOME SPEED TO IT ! and stays sooooooo, stable.. Burton Does It Again, Bringing Rigid Design, Quality, And Style To The Industry... Happy Shredding -- Marcus

Great for going fast and carving
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Strong edgehold, Stiff, Well known brand
Other Thoughts: Real stable at high speeds -- buy this board if you want to go fast. You can carve real well with this board, and go down those slopes almost as fast as those skiers. I tried this board at the Burton Super Demo Tour, and I really liked this board for All Mountain. This board didn't match up as well in the park. ICS is AWESOME.

Other Thoughts: All I have to say is that the ICS system ROCKS!!! I will never go back! The flex/control you get out of the ICS/EST set up is awesome! Complete control of your board. The Custom X is the best all mountain board I have ever ridden. It will take on anything! I use this board with the Burton EST Cartels and I had no problems what so ever. LOVE IT!! Question
Will the burton custom X ics system work with older burton bindings. I have the 2008 P1 bindings that I don't want to upgrade since they are only a season old.
-- Does that come with the board or is it a seperate purchase?
--- One more question. I'm riding on an older burton canyon which is a pretty stiff board. I notice the comments about the custom x stiffness. If your familiar with the canyon is it comprable stiffness?
---- I mainly ride bowls and ungroumed terrrian. Not much in the parks besides a few jumps and boxes. In your opinion is the custom x a good fit.
----- cool, thanks for the help. I'll be ordering tonight!!!

Burton doesn't really call out what number their sintered bases are. But, there is no sintered 1,000,000 base.
