Sierra Says: One of the top selling snowboard bindings of all time, the Burton Cartel is a living legend. Every year it proves itself an incredible value and a top choice for most Burton pros. For 2009 it comes equipped with a sick new Capstrap and super comfy gel heel cushioning. We recommend the Cartel for just about anybody who wants professional level freestyle performance from their binding.

Burton Says: The cult classic. There's a reason more pros, regardless of who's paying them, choose to ride the Cartel over any other. Simply put, no other binding on the planet commands greater respect when it comes to slaying everything the freestyle gods grace us with. Setting the standards for smoke-weight and Hulk-strength, the Cartel and its canted Living Hinge Team Skyback II with DialFLAD, brings to light the ultimate balance of power and meth-tweaker mobility.

Good but try the EST version

Straps: super comfy
sick looking bindings
Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: love these bindings! i initially bougth the freestyles and they are night and day in comparison. this binding looks and feels well built except probably for the rubber edges which tears over time when rubbed continuously.

Rocked this binding last Nov.
Terrain Use: All Mountain
Other Thoughts: It felt just like my CO2. I set it less aggressive to play around in the park. Comfortable and responsive enough. Overall,I would save money and buy this over my CO2 if I could do over.

Great Value but just don't stab yourself.

Burton Cartel Sizing Issue
Pros: Adjustability, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: Burton sizing chart was a little off. I wear size 10 and the Medium Cartels were far too small. SS helped with my return and made my experience legit. Bindings - highly adjustable, look sick, trusted brand.

Cartel Binders
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Cons: Boot slippage
Other Thoughts: Its not Burton's top of the line binders but it will mos def get the job done and for a good price!!! It's pretty responsive and can handle anything from the groomers to the park. The toe straps are comfy but have boot slippage problems when not tightened enough. If your a noobie, this is a must binder to have.

Fit: fits fine
Width: fits fine
Straps: super comfy
Great bindings
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: I finally got 2 days of riding with these bindings and I must say, these are really nice bindings. I previously had the Freestyles and it was a ginormous upgrade. Even though this was my first season, I wanted something that would keep me satisfied down the road when I get better. It was really nice when shredding it down the hill but there were times that the toe strap came off. Maybe I just needed to adjust them more but they came off a couple times and scared the poop out of me. There were times that it was difficult in and out of the bindings but that was probably the first couple of runs since the straps were still not broken in yet. All in all these are great bindings for the money. I just wished that I bought these instead of the cheap Freestyles.

4/20/2009

good bindings
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: Easy in & out, Lightweight, Comfortable, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: good functional bindings. Padding on highbacks wearing down after a few runs. Toe caps are great.

Fit: fits fine
Width: too wide
Straps: super comfy
Great bindings
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: I upgraded to these bindings reading all the reviews out there on them. Pretty much everything everyone says is true. These bindings are super responsive, light, comfortable, and are very sturdy. Once I get strapped in, no adjustments necessary, these bindings hold up to the bumpiest of rides. Size wise, I think the Large is a little big for size 10 boots. The Salomon Size 10 Wide boots I have are pretty much as small as you can go in this binding. I have the straps as tight as possible to fit with these boots.

4/12/2009

Fit: fits fine
Width: too narrow
Straps: ok
Excellent
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: Lightweight, stiff and strong. New Capstrap is sick and the straps are comfy. Highest highback in the Burton line and in my mind it's PERFECT... Great response. Crank up the lean a notch or 2 on the FLAD and just RIP. This binding is on my TRICE and is quite capable in any condition ranging from Pow to park. Probably the best all-around binding on the market.

Burton Cartel Review
Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: CARTELS! I only ride Burton Bindings for 1 reason: A 100% platic/fiberglass binding is more durable, reduces more vibration, is lighter and constistant than bindings with alluminum in them. The Burton Cartel is the best binding for the money. In my opinion the Cartel offers the same level of performance as the co2, triad and c60 minus a few bells and whistles. The Cartel comes with significant forward lean built into the design. Forward lean is good because it forces you to bend your knees. When your knees are bent, you will see faster toe and heelside turns, greater ability to absorb choppy show and vairations in terrain and a more aggressive approach on the mountain. Imagine a ninja prepared to attack...that is the stance the Burton Cartel puts you in while you are riding.

not the same as the C60's
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Carving, Groomers
Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Popular model
Other Thoughts: binding is good for jibs and tricks. C60 still better! spend the extra money and you'll know the true meaning of Response.

Cartel...
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable
Other Thoughts: Great feel & fit... super lightweight. I have size 10 Burton Hail boots, and the Large size is quite roomy, but not overly large. I would definitely recommend these bindings.

Cheap and legit
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Boot hold, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model
Other Thoughts: I was debating getting this binding or dropping a little more cash for the ride alpha or betta movement. Now that I have these bindings I'm so stoked and thankful i got them. They are the perfect everything binding, I have ridden them off cliffs and huge kickers and they land buttery smooth . great padding, awesome new toe strap and perfect flex for my taste, as well as decently light. The only thing i would change is to make the side walls a little higher. If any snow gets under your boot the boot ocassionaly will slip out of place. Great binding for the $!

The Cartels - Toe Caps
Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: The hole in the toe caps really keeps them in place. The 2009 Missions still don't even have them, they're lighter than the missions, and also stiffer. As for comfort, I would have selected uncomfortable on the cons menu, but that wouldn't really be correct because all bindings, no matter how good, are going to hurt at some point during the day. Overall, best bindings I ever owned - great adjustability options as well.

Well Worth The Money
Terrain Use: Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain

Other Thoughts: After riding a pair of Ride LX's for a few years it was time to finally try out a pair of Burton's with the toe caps and they are definitely worth every penny.

Terrain Use: Speed, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Well known brand, Popular model
Cons: Uncomfortable
Other Thoughts: These are really nice for the price. You gotta really adjust them to yourself tho or than can be pretty painful. the highback is nice if you use it right

One of the best bindings in the market
Terrain Use: Speed, Powder, Carving, Backcountry, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: I have to agree with most people on this board about the Burton Cartels. These bindings are pretty good for all mountain. For me, it's just right. I heard from others that this may too responsive for the parks. Overall, Cartels are keepers.

3/19/2009

Everyone is on crack
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, All Mountain
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Poor adjustability, Uncomfortable
Other Thoughts: I demo'd these on three different boards for a total of 2 days and I hate them. I hate the toe ramps, the straps that never seem to be prefect, the colors, everything. they had nice flex, but that' was about it.

Comfort is the key
Terrain Use: All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Comfortable
Other Thoughts: Very comfortable bindings, can use all day. Holds well my Burton Hail boot, highbacks works well too. Have to say that last year's toecap were much better, this year's slips off the toe so easily. Highback cushion wears off rapidily. Just don't expect them to last forever, or at least not look good forever. Loved last year's, not that much this year's.

Solid
Terrain Use: Jumps, Speed, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: Lots of adjustability and tons of control. This is for translating the slightest command into a carve, not for deep powder or tricks. Love the hghbacks. Toe caps can be turned into conventional straps. Requires no maintenance, set it up and forget. The piece with the diamond plate look, (which is purely ornamental) gets destroyed easily if you bang it around the chair but all the functional parts are sturdy enough to last 200+ days out there

cartels for a noob
Terrain Use: All Mountain
Other Thoughts: i've been on the slopes like 2-3 times and i bought these to ride on my 4th, fits me just fine even though i'm a newbie at it, but i'd say its not that bad for bindings especially when it's at 50% off

Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model
Other Thoughts: Great bindings. Very responsive and easy in & out. I don't know about everyone else, but when I got mine (medium), they were way smalll and I had adjust it pretty drastically to fit. Maybe it just comes like that? But now everything is fine and they work well.

A Great Pair of Binding!
Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: Coming from a Burton Freestyle, the Cartel is definitely a nice upgrade. The difference was day and night. The binding is much more responsive and comfortable. I had an easier time carving than on my Freestyle. I got it for free from Sierra daily giveaway, but it's a steal at the current 50% off. I would definitely spend money for it.

Terrain Use: Jumps, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: I am new to boarding and asked the forums for their opinions on what bindings to get. I am definitely glad I listened! The bindings installed super easy and can be adjusted easily as well. The back fits my leg and calf very good with no annoying rubbing. Strapping in is easy even with thick gloves. Very responsive and helped me master my carving. I do loosen the straps a lil when getting on the lift cause my foot falls asleep from how tight it is. Stood up well even in pretty hard crash landing. Made turning effortless, best purchase i have made so far

Other Thoughts: Awesome binders. Such a big step up from my old sims. On my first run, the highback was loose but I just had to tighten it hard and now it's perfect. Amazing control. Sometimes I have boot slippage though but thats a minor occurance. Buy them!

Cons: Heavy, Poor adjustability
Other Thoughts: these are very nice bindings.the only riifs i have are the stupid canted highbacks, and the highback rotation adjuster.other then that, a very solid bindding, although it is a lil on the heavy side.

ruined my weekend
Terrain Use: Boxes and Rails, Powder, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Lightweight, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Cons: Uncomfortable
Other Thoughts: after three brief uses, these bindings broke on me during one of my runs. not only the base plate snapped in half, right side binding cracked from toe to heel. i'm just glad i didn't injure myself. i've read others having similar problems. they are very comfortable. but in terms of construction, they are poorly made. i'd steer away from these.

2/17/2009

Got them to my door in 3 days.
Other Thoughts: Ordered and shipped to my door in three days. Sierra is great about this. I've ridden a previous years' model and they're solid. I was just trying to avoid going back to the Custom's since my last pair (and only pair) broke. Burton has a great warranty so take advantage, but hopefully you won't need to.

Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, Well known brand, Easy installation
Other Thoughts: Bound to my Ride control 155. Easy to install and adjust. Straps go on easy and board responds great with these bindings. -17 +15 goofy offcentered to the rear. SoCal riding + less nat POW w/ more man made and machine groomed snow. Still handles great.

Other Thoughts: Can't really compare them to much other than some of the rentals I use to use. But these bindings definitely get the job done. There's a reason they are popular among the pro-boarders and even the casual ones.

Other Thoughts: These bindings are all over the mountain and for a good reason, they're pretty great! once you've got them dialed into fitting your boots you never have to worry about em. straps are pretty comfy and buckles hold up to a lot of wear and tear. excellent binding for the price, highly recommended

Cons: Boot slippage
Other Thoughts: With all burton bindings it seems that there is automatic forward lean which i hate...i messed with mine quite a bit and have basically made the forward lean non existent but still some. Overall i like them there soft and nice for rails look sweet too.

Other Thoughts: These are the first good pair of bindings I have ever been on and I must say you can tell the difference. I get no boot slippage at all unlike with other bindings before and I can crank it all the way up really tight but still be very comfortable. I don't get sore at all any more. I would be more happy with these bindings and a mediocre board instead of a nice board with mediocre bindings.

Great Bindings!!!
Terrain Use: Half Pipe, Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Powder, Carving, Groomers, All Mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Easy in & out, Boot hold, Durable, Good construction quality, Lightweight, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Cons: Uncomfortable
Other Thoughts: Only lised uncomfortable, as like someone mentioned before me, I have made it a habit to loosen the strap when getting on the lift as it causes me to loose feeling in my foot sometimes. This may be because I ratchet them down pretty good at the top and am basically cutting off circulation. The bindings hold up really well to huge jumps and landings and have all the feel/control I need to get down the mountain and having fun doing it.

Other Thoughts: If this is gonna be your first binding purchase, than its a good one. Ive had 2 pairs of these so far cause unfortunately the high back on my first pair snapped. the most popular binding on the mountain
Pros: Adjustability, Durable, Good construction quality, Well known brand, Popular model, Easy installation
Cons: Uncomfortable
Other Thoughts: First thing to know about the Cartel. The highback is no ordinary highback. They used to call them Skybacks for a reason. They _will_ dig into your calf muscle unless you adjust them properly. These are pretty standard fare on the mountain. You know they work, and they work well. The pain chips off of the plastic pretty easily, but nothing more than cosmetic. The strap on the Cartels also is pretty thin by industry standards. I've always felt secured to my board with them, but have made it a habit of loosening the ladders a few clicks before getting on the lift. Otherwise I loose feeling in my feet while sitting still.

what kind of board you got?
-- I would go with the rome 390s, they're an awesome binding, so are the cartels, but I think the rome 390s would better suite the Never Summer
--- NS is more of a park, freestyle terrain board, and those bindings are for the same thing
---- there is a reason they are sold out, they are awesome
