Burton Hero ICS Snowboard
Item # : SS45551 |
Year : 2009
Sierra Says: The Burton Hero is a super original freestyle board with all kinds of interesting features. The V-Rocker shape is really like three rockers put together. For all you non Burton tech guys, that means its camber is similar to a reverse camber (banana). One between your bindings and one near each the nose and tail. This puts out a great, skate-oriented feel that will be much loved by the park riders. The Pressure Distribution Edges will allow this board to hold a great edge around the mountain, especially on the harder snow or ice. If you are a freestyle rider looking for an incredibly innovative board this winter, swoop a Hero and see what the buzz is all about.
Burton says: Guaranteed to enhance your video part by upward of 300%. meet our latest rocker design and newest freestyle weapon. V-Rocker on the Hero features a rocker between your feet, with additional rockers toward the nose and tail for superhuman foot control, press-ability, and pop. Buttery Scoop tips only add to the all-around boosted performance. For as mellow and forgiving as the Hero feels, it carves like a sword thanks to the added grip of Pressure Distribution Edges. No wonder the Hero won Transworld's Good Wood award and is the board every tester tries to steal. Terrain Uses

Pros: lightweight, Popular model, Strong edgehold, Great value, Popular on mountain, Soft, Well known brand
Cons: Too soft
Other Thoughts: I wasn't as impressed as everyone else with this board. Wasn't what I thought it was gonna be. I detuned it and it was very edgy. For me it was also too soft.

Other Thoughts: Overall: Like a nice malt scotch, it's an acquired taste. I can't wait to try this rocker on a high-end board, like an Uninc (if they were still making Unincs). I also think that compared to the Fix, I prefer the mellower rocker of the Fix for most applications, adding a bit more ease to your butters and spinning/jibbing without really affecting pop or turns. Kudos to Burton for releasing this board at a reasonable price vs. sticking it on a $900 board for the first season.
Burton Hero ICS Snowboard Advice & ChatGuest
Question
The Shape of the burton Hero said Twin-like... What does that mean?-- why should that be a concern? --- yeah it looks like a awesome board, but i am looking for the nose and tail to be symmetrical, and i heard that the twin-like shape as compared to just twin means the nose is higher than the tail or something along those lines
Best Answer
both the tip and the tail are the same -- i think directional boards are typically stiffer at the tail and shaped differently --- what you should be concerned with is the rocker on the hero ---- Twin tip boards have a centered stance with a tip and tail that are exact copies of each other, making them symmetrical in shape. Both ends of a freestyle Snowboard have a shovel, and freestyle boards with twin tip design makes it easy for beginners to ride both forward and backward (fakie). Directional-twin Snowboards are similar to the regular twin tip Snowboard; only, its tail is stiffer than the nose.----- eh not much of a concern but Rockered boardds are all the rage right now, makes it easy to press and float in powder Guest
