Sierra Snowboard set out to make its first snowboard this season. Sierra Snowboard's landmark snowboard, The Crew, was a collaboration of the entire community. Once the final design was chosen, we took a look into the graffiti culture and wanted to use some terminology that we found:
Crew: An ordinary group of friends that suddenly form a crew if they all share an interest and a want to start collaborating, much like the community. "I am loving the idea of 'crew' or 'cru'. Why? Because this whole project has come about because of a 'crew' of people. The Sierra staff, the Sierra community and the Capita posse have all made this idea a reality. Yeah I did the design but that was through a whole community effort which a lot of people contributed to, so 'crew' sits well with me!" ~Philwiles~ This board was bulit with the all mountain freestyle rider in mind. With its twin shape and centered stance it'll be super playful, but it's still stiff enough for fast runs down the groomers. The Crew. A limited edition board for the limited edition rider. - Hoon So I took the Crew out today and rode it. Man was I impressed!!!! I am a pretty big guy 6ft 210lbs with 10.5 boots. I was able to take this board all over A basin in CO. It is hella playful and a great all around board. It presses easily while holding a good edge on groomers. It has plenty of pop as well. I was asked multiple times what type of board it was and received a lot of positive comments on the graphics. This is one solid board that will excel in the park but can be taken all over the mountain without any trouble. Bruizza Terrain Uses

Sierra Crew Snowboard Reviews (9 total)4/11/2009 Graphics: awesome
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Speed, Groomers
Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, poppy, Great value
Other Thoughts: fat caps anyone? clean graphics [being one who appreciates street art], and when it's based of the capita stairmaster, everything's all good.

3/9/2009 Graphics: simple and clean
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pros: Strong edgehold, Great value
Other Thoughts: This board held and edge really well, and also made me feel great going faster than I ever have before. No chatter, a little bit of a stiffer feel than I expected but maybe that's because I had been on a 151 previously. All around sweet board

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Terrain Use: Jumps, Boxes and Rails, Powder, Carving, All Mountain
Pros: Durable, lightweight, Easy to carve, poppy, Stable at high speeds, Great value, Stiff
Other Thoughts: This board is amazing for the price. It's super poppy... a bit stiff, but with a bit of skill, you can get it to butter. I made a few mistakes on my last trip to the hill (it had been 3 years since I last went)... normally I would have been face or butt down, but the great construction of this board allowed me to recover... good thing, because my body can't take a fall like it used to!!
Great job Sierra! Keep it up.

1/7/2009 Graphics: sick
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pros: Strong edgehold, Great value, Soft
Other Thoughts: The Crew was quite suprising. For a park based board, it holds an edge extremely well at speed. Great board to brush up park skills on or even to learn park on. It's very forgiving but works well for experienced riders too. Pros: Effortless tail/nose loading, lightweight, controllable flex (not a noodle), generous waist width, easy butters and presses, sick, clean graphics, being able to represent SS on the hill! Cons: ummm none.

Pros: Durable, Easy to carve, Great value, Stiff
Other Thoughts: why five stars, because this board was designed by the sierra community which includes riders from all over the world. there were less than 200 of these boards manufactured. It's based off the capita stairmaster which is capitas top selling board.

2/3/2008 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pros: Really super easy to spin, I was landing 3's with style and that's a first! As you'd expect from a twin tip park board, handles superbly on boxes and rails but also this board is no noodle it holds a
solid carve all over the mountain at good speed. Decent waist width makes slightly sketchy lands easier and of course the price $300!
Cons: As with the other reviews it aint great in the pow or tree runs but why would you expect it to be? You wouldn't expect a Burton Fish to rock the park so don't expect this board to perform in waist deep pow that aint what it's made for.
Other Thoughts: The first thing I noticed about this board [ok second thing, 1st was the graphics :)] was that it was wider and a bit stiffer than the Burton Jeremy Jones which is what I was riding as a park board.
The extra waist width made to real difference edge to edge for me and helped on my dubious landings and despite my initial thoughts the stiffness didn't causes any probs with buttering, this board butters sweet and the extra stiffness helps when blasting all over the mountain.
This would be a superb board for someone looking to get into freestyle as a complement for their main board and the waist width means bigger footed riders can get a look in.
Or if you want an all mountain board on a budget (with a freestyle emphasis) this might be the one for you. It coped well all over the mountain.
Why 5 stars? 4 stars for a beautifully constructed board (well done Blue and the Capita Team). The fifth star? The price of the board is crazy, I hear they're now in the sale, if these boards were on sale at that price in the UK they'd sell out in seconds, and you're helping the Sierra community grow and that can only be a good thing.
Peace out, I'm off to wax this baby :)
1/8/2008 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pros: - Very poppy and snappy
- Extremely stable at high speeds
- Cool graphics
- Low maintenance base
- easy to nose an tail press
- well made
- tough base and topsheet
- twin shape for riding switch with ease
Cons: - Not the best board for pow and tree runs
Other Thoughts: So I took this crew board out last week for the first time and it was wonderful. very poppy and snappy. and incredibly stable at high speeds on groomers( i wasn't expecting it to be since it a park board). It was very easy to nose press and easy to get good ollies and pop off of those little bumps and dips around the mountain. Its a very good and fun board that i would reccomend to people on a budget and looking for playful board just to have fun on. But i would stay out of the trees and pow with it since its a twin, and burned my rear leg like crazy when i took a few runs in the trees.
1/8/2008 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pros: Overall it is solid, stable performer.
I took it all over the place, and it performed well. It is easy to butter and has a bunch of pop. You can load up the tail and bounce. The wider waist width (at least for my size 9 boot) makes it super easy to land even if you are off center in the air or get popped up at a weird angle. The twin, centered pattern was great as I was spinning flatland with it. The base was fast enough and carried me through the flats in a bunch of places. When I placed it on edge, it was a predictable carver based on its length (155).
Cons: It reminded me a lot of the Indoor Survival or the Outdoor Living (same board, different graphics). Was this based on those boards? (there's no 155 in the Capita lineup). It also rode a lot like a Burton Twin (twin is more lively with that love it or hate it Burton feel) or a Rome Machine (machine is wider and designed to be more stable).
Other Thoughts: I gotta say for $299, you'd be hard pressed to find a better board for most riders who fit the spec.
